Derrick's POV

"Alright... let's warm up" the coach said.

I got on the base line and started to warm up with the team. This isn't the best part of basketball but it's good that we do warm up.

After we got warmed up, we did some drills, after that coach told us to shoot around cause he had a meeting to go to.

I love doing this. I went to the the side of the bleachers into the next gym and started shooting around. Then, I guess a ball hit the back of my head. I turned around an some of my my team Mayes were standing right there.

"Hey guys" I said.

"Hey Ricky... you got anything stupid to say?" The captain said.

"... What do you mean?" I asked.

They all laughed so I started laughing too.

One other guy took my ball from me.

"Thanks for the ball" he said.

"... That was mine"

"Oh. It was. Okay here" he said.

He threw the ball at me and it hit me in the eye.

"Hey you want to see a trick?"

"... Sure" I said.

"Look here" he said pointing to something.

I looked and then he punched me in the eye.

It hurt but they started laughing. I chuckled a little.

They all walked away and them I suddenly didn't feel like practicing anymore. I walked to the bath room and checked my eye. It was already a little bruised.
After School...

"Hey Derrick" Nadia said.

"Hey" I replied.

"What's wrong?" She said stopping me.

"My eye" I said.

She gasped. "What happened?"

"Some one on the team elbowed me by accident" I lied.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, it just hurts a little."

"... Derrick"

"Yes?"

"Who did this to you? Was it your teammates on the basketball team?" She asked me.

"... Yes, but don't tell anybody. They were just playing with me and I guess it went to far."

"Derrick! They are bullying you!" She said loudly.

"No they aren't, they are my friends..."

"No they aren't Derrick."

"Yes they are Nadia" I defended.

"Okay, what ever you say... but when they have you in a corner and is beating your ass don't come crying to me" she said. Then, she walked to her car and drove off.

I started walking home by myself. I know my friends aren't bullying me. They aren't mean guys like that. They just like to joke around like that. I got home went to my room to do my homework. It was hard. I didn't even know if the answers I got were right.

I tried texting Nadia to see if she could help me but she never replied back.

I guess I'm on my own with homework.
