She gently handed him the cards and the information and stuff, and told us that it would be the farthest room down the hallway once we got up to the top floor.
I dragged on, admiring the beautiful tapestries on the walls and the clear waters of the indoor fountains. I unconsciously caught myself heading towards an art piece towards the back, a sculpture of many different lines branching out from one "trunk" and made from all different types of materials.
"What are you doing? She said the elevator." Jaeryn's whining voice caught behind me.
"Yeah.... hold on.." I said distracted.
"What? You like that? You can have it. I'll send it up." He said impatiently.
"No, no, I just... doesn't this.... speak to you?" I asked.
"No. It's just a bunch of sculpted lines. Literally." He said bored.
"It kind of reminds me of diversity. Or.... or....." I thought hard.
"It actually reminds me that way of life. How life has different routes and choices and each goes somewhere different." He said suddenly. Then he quickly whisked me off.
"That... was a surprisingly deep answer." I said after a while.
"Well what can you say? I'm a genius." He said flipping his imaginative hair.
"Or a person with too much free time for his own good." I said scoffing.
The elevator rose and rose, passing the single digit levels, then finally dinged all the way up to the fifteenth.
He grabbed my arm and dragged me through the long hallway, passing by more than ten doors before reaching the end.
He swiped the card and quickly opened the door, dumping me in.
"Here. Now you can play all art detective." He said plopping on the couch.
"Actually... where's my room?" I asked.
He lazily pointed to the back, which didn't help much, considering that the hotel had a full kitchen, a dining table, and a pantry in the direction he pointed to.
But I followed through and went towards the back where I found a room near the kitchen entrance.
I threw myself on the marshmallow-like bed, and scanned the room further.
The room was almost as big as my own bedroom. There was a walk-in closet in the farthest corner, a bathroom, a table with a mirror, another table, the giant bed, in the middle, and the expensive looking side table on the right.
I heard a soft knock near the front door, so I got up and trailed myself back to the lounging area to see Carter with a man who carted all our bags.
"What took you so long?" Jaeryn asked annoyed.
"There was a pretty store, so I went in and bought something. For my girlfriend." He said, lifting a big brand bag.
"Aw, you should have gone with me. I want to get something too." I said, plopping myself on the couch across Jaeryn.
"Yeah, well I didn't want to be stuck with you both, so went alone." He said, rolling his eyes.
