She texted. Finally.

'Hey honey, I'm back! The volunteer trip was cut short, which is kinda a shame, but I'm so happy to be in my own bed :)'

I stared at my mom's text as the words finally registered in my mind. Moms back. What?

My chair clatters on the floor as I stand up, grabbing the attention of the boys and the customers in the shop.

"What?" Jaeryn asks standing up also.

"My....." I said rushing my hand through my hair. "Mom."

"Oh, that's great. You said you haven't see your mom in a while right?" Carter said also joining us.

"Yeah, but...." that means... if she found out I was attending a boys school, she'd definitely pull me out. And I was getting used to the boys' company.

"But, that means..." Jaeryn said putting the puzzle together.

I looked down at the text with different routes my life could take at a million miles per hour.

Ok, so I need to think rationally. What would she do? I though while pacing back and forth.

She would first fetch me. No. she wouldn't do that. Yes. She totally would. If I tell her I want to- wait what? Ever since when did I want to stay?

Images of Caprian, Seidon, and even Jaeryn flashed through my mind.

Oh no. This meant trouble. This meant... I was attached to this place. An all boys academy.

I felt so suffocated I grabbed my bag and left the cafe in a hurry and walked down the sidewalk by the ocean.

I took deep breaths and stared down at my hands.

"Hey, you alright?" Jaeryn asked worried gripping my arm once he caught up to me.

"Yeah, yeah...." I said drifting off.

He took a second to look at me. No look into me.

"You obviously aren't. Why are you getting so stressed? Just because your mom comes doesn't mean you-...." he trailed off and quickly looked up to me.

"Does that mean you have to leave?" He asked his eyes fluttering just a little.

I took some time to answer.

"Yeah. She'd probably pull me out. She'd be outraged if she found out that I was admitted to a boy's school. And they let me." I sighed.

"Well then, we'll just have to ask. I have a couple ways to convince someone's mind." Jaeryn said.

I looked at him for a split second and gave him a grin.

"Good luck. My moms not an easy person to convince." I laughed.

"Don't worry, people say I've got the charms." He smiled.

"Now, now, don't go all Mr. Conceited." Said raising an eyebrow.

"Well, what can I say, I'm a truthful person." He said, giving his signature smirk while tilting his head.
