I got a surprise text the next morning.

Wake up, wash up, come outside.

I squinted at the blaring screen. 6:24 AM.

Jaeryn's name seemed to scream at me from the notification bar.

I grudged myself to the bathroom and painstakingly got myself to a jean outfit.

I peeked out my bathroom window and saw a black car by the curb.

I sighed again and slipped on my shoes and quietly left the front door.

"What a romantic greeting my sir." I knocked on Jaeryn's car window. "At a very romantic time as well."

"Hop in. We're going for a drive." He said looking at me from the top of his sunglasses.

He drove me to a nearby Waffle House.

"First, breakfast." He winked.

"Breakfast my ass." I said under my breath.

"I've been great without having to see you." I said pouring syrup into the cups of my waffles.

"Well, I just made your day even better. I'm about to take you to the best place in the world." He said with a suspicious smile.

"I have a job to get to, Jae." I said stealing his hashbrowns.

"We'll be back before then. Unless you want to spend the rest of the day with this sexy package." He smirked. "I haven't been a good boyfriend to you." He pouted.

"Nobody asked."

"Except you did. In your heart. I can hear it."

I gave an exasperated sigh.

"No but seriously, Seidon's been bugging me and I never liked Caprian so I guess it leaves me with you." He said picking at his vegetables.

"So you woke up before the sun to play with me." I gave him an unbelieving look.

"Glad we're on the same page." He took a piece of my waffles.

After breakfast, he took me to a kart racing arena. He's apparently close to the owner and borrowed his keys. "Driving at dawn is the best time to drive" he says.

"I'm going to beat your ass." I called out to him when the timer was on countdown.

"Try me." He said, his car engine roaring.

The moment I saw green all I could hear was tires screeching through the track.

I couldn't see where he was but he definitely wasn't in front of me.

I was whooping and laughing with every drift I took.

I finished my fifth lap when suddenly Jaeryn's car pulled up beside me.

"You, my friend, are the slowest driver I know." he called beside me.

What the hell?

"I tried my best to let you win, but I'm tailing you so hard it's not even fun anymore." He called, while fake yawning.

Before I can react, he zoomed ahead and cut me and crossed the finish line first.

"How was that even possible? My car's accelerator was rigged. You rigged it beforehand, didn't you." I said when we were dressed back from our driving uniforms.

"What an offense. I do not.. 'rig' things." He sighed dramatically.

I pushed him.

We were back in his car and on route again.
