12. Home Sweet Home

Y/N's POV
I told the cab driver the address and we left the airport. During the cab ride, I could tell that Joey was super nervous. I grabbed his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
Y/N: "You're going to be ok Joey"
I gave him a kiss on the cheek. Joey looked down at me and smiled.
Joey: "Thank you"
Next thing I knew I was at my house. I was super excited to see my parents. We got out of the cab, I was about to pay for the cab ride but Joey stopped me.
Joey: "No Y/N let me pay"
Y/N: "No I have to pay"
Joey: "No I'm paying"
Y/N: "Fine"
While Joey paid for the cab I started grabbing our suitcases out of the trunk. Once Joey was finished paying he came to the back of the cab and grabbed his suitcase. I closed the trunk and we began to walk up the driveway. Once I got to the front door I knocked. We waited a few seconds then the door opened. My mom saw me and hugged me tightly.
Mom: "OH MY GOD YOU'RE HERE"
I chuckled. 
Y/N: "Hey mom"
Mom: "I missed you so much"
Y/N: "I missed you too"
My mom finally pulled away.
Y/N: "Mom this is my boyfriend Joey, Joey this is my mom"
Joey was going in for a handshake but instead, she gave him a hug. He was taken by surprise at first but hugged her back.
Mom: "So nice to meet you"
Joey: "Very nice to meet you too"
My mom stopped hugging him.
Mom: "Come on in."
My mom let us in and we just left our luggage in the hall. I grabbed Joey's hand.
Mom: "Y/N your dad is downstairs if you want to go see him"
Y/N: "We will just wait until he figures out I'm here"
We sat at the kitchen table and started talking. Joey talked a little bit about himself. Like where he grew up and stuff like that. Once Joey was finished talking my dad came upstairs.
Dad: "Y/N what are you doing here?"
He came up and hugged me.
Y/N: "I'm here for Thanksgiving"
Dad: "And who is this?"
My dad pointed to Joey.
Y/N: "Oh dad this is my boyfriend Joey, Joey this is my dad"
My dad walked over to Joey and shook his hand.
Dad: "Nice to meet you"
Joey: "Nice to meet you too Mr. L/N"
Dad: "Please call me D/N"
I was glad my dad wasn't being over protective.
Mom: "What day are you guys staying until?"
Y/N: "Wednesday if that's ok"
Mom: "Yeah that's ok. What do you guys want for dinner?"
Y/N: "How about me and Joey make dinner. If that's ok with you Joey?"
Joey: "Yeah sounds good"
Mom: "Ok but only if you want to"
Y/N: "Great me and Joey will go get the ingredients for dinner. Can we take your car Mom?"
Mom: "Yeah of course but please drive safe"
Y/N: "We will"
Me and Joey walked outside to my mom's car. We got in and drove to the grocery store. When we got there we decided to do a BBQ dinner, so we bought burgers, buns, lettuce, tomato, stuff like that. Once we checked out walked to the car and put our groceries in the trunk. We both got in and sat in the car for a little bit.
Y/N: "It's a little chilly out there
isn't it?"
Joey: "Yeah definitely not LA weather"
I chuckled.
Y/N: "Yeah that's for sure. Welcome to Canada."
Joey chuckled.
Y/N: "Are you ok with barbecuing?"
Joey: "Yeah of course"
Y/N: "Ok, I have to chop stuff up if that's ok. Are you ok with being alone for a little bit?"
Joey: "Yeah I'll be fine. Are we ready to go?"
Y/N: "Yup"
Me and Joey drove home and went to the backyard. Joey started up the barbecue and I went to inside to grab the utensils he needed.
Y/N: "Joey is going to barbecue some burgers and I'll chop up things to put on them"
Mom: "Alright"
I went back into the backyard to give Joey the things he needed. I went back inside and got the ingredients out. I grabbed a knife and started to cut things up. My dad came out from the living room and went outside to where Joey was. I continued to chop the stuff up. I was worried that my dad was tormenting Joey. My mom came into the kitchen and broke me out of that thought.
Mom: "Are you sure you don't want me to help?"
Y/N: "Yeah I'm sure mom, take this time to relax"
Mom: "Ok. Fine"
My mom walked back into the living room. Once I was finished cutting the stuff up, I walked outside to where Joey and my dad were.
Dad: "Hey Y/N"
Y/N: "Hey guys. Whatcha you doing?"
Dad: "Oh just talking to Joey"
Y/N: "What are you talking about?"
Dad: "Just random things. Mostly sports"
Y/N: "Ok. Dad, can I talk to you for a second?"
Dad: "Yeah of course"
Me and my dad went inside for a brief moment.
Y/N: "Are you freaking him out?"
Dad: "No I don't think so"
Y/N: "Ok but just please be nice to him, he was nervous about coming here and I really like him so please please please just be nice to him"
Dad: "Alright alright. Relax I'll be nice to him. I was being nice to him anyways"
Y/N: "Thank you"
Me and my dad walked back outside towards Joey.
Joey: "Hey Y/N can you grab me a plate?"
Y/N: "Yeah of course"
I went to go grab a plate for Joey.
Mom: "How's dinner coming?"
Y/N: "It's doing good. Mom, I have a question?"
Mom: "Yes"
Y/N: "Do you like Joey so far?"
Mom: "Yeah of course. He's super sweet and has a big heart so yeah I defiantly approve"
Y/N: "Oh thank you. For some reason, I was scared you and dad weren't going to like him"
Mom: "No I like him. He's a very nice young man"
Y/N: "Ok thank you. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go give Joey this plate"
I walked back out to the backyard. I gave Joey the plate and he put the burgers on it. We all walked inside. I got plates out for everyone and we started to get our dinner. Once we got our dinner, we ate and had a funny but embarrassing conversation about me as a little kid. After dinner, me and my mom cleaned up and my dad and Joey went to the living room. My dad and Joey watched a basketball game. They seemed to be having a good time which made me relieved. After me and my mom were done cleaning up we joined the boys in the living room. We all watched the basketball game until it was over at that point it was 10:00. Me and Joey decided to go to bed because we had a long tiring day. Me and Joey ended up sleeping in my old room which was ok because my room was just a light red and had a bunch of hockey stuff in it.
Joey: "So this was Y/N's room"
Y/N: "Yup"
Joey: "Wow honestly I was expecting it to be really girly"
Y/N: "Really?"
Joey: "Yeah"
I chuckled at Joey's comment.
Y/N: "Ok. Well you got the wrong impression"
Me and Joey got ready for bed. After that, we went on our phones for a little bit. We basically fell asleep while we were on our phones. Joey rolled over and wrapped his arms around my waist. I was still kind of half awake. I heard the door open. I opened my eye a little bit and saw my mom and dad at the door. They smiled. I heard my mom whisper:
Mom: "They're cute together"
Then the door shut. I smiled. They liked Joey, that's all that mattered. I turned over and kissed Joey on the cheek and went back to sleep.
