Oh my god a one shot that isn't USUK it's a Christmas miracle
Once upon a time, there was a large kingdom in the depths of the Nordic regions. Ruled over by the glorious King Matthias and his Queen, the people lived in great harmony. The King was overly kind to his people, and the Queen was of great wisdom.
The Prince however, was none of the above. Granted, he was kind and intelligent, but not nearly as much as the King or Queen. He was the Queen's younger brother, and both the royals wished for him to marry as they could not have children.
Prince Emil was lazy and carefree, as teenagers were, but he did not have the initiative to be a King on his own.
One night, a young woman who was clearly not of the Nordic regions, came to the door of the palace. It was unsure how she had gotten over the borders without anyone knowing or where she had came from. The woman, very distressed, cried out before the royal family for help.
"Please." She said, "My child was cursed by a demon and trapped in a tower to the east of this land. I need you to save them, you are the only hope I have left." She kneeled down and wept. The King reassured her, and promised they would help her find her son.
"Yes." The Queen said, smartly looking at the young Prince. "My brother, Prince Emil, will go on this journey to save your child."
Emil let out a gasp of dismay, as getting off his ass for a few days didn't quite appeal to him. The woman burst out in thanks.
"Please, dear Prince, take this amulet. It has the power to make you invulnerable to magic, as the place is surrounded in it." She handed Emil a necklace with a very shiny tear drop shaped yellow stone. It looked valuable. "Okay. I will." Emil said.
"Excellent!" The Queen exclaimed. "And afterwards, there may be a royal wedding!"
Emil made a choking noise. "I didn't sign up for that! I just want to save this girl and get home. It's not for me."

Emil was suited up in a light armour, enough for protection but not enough to weigh him down. He had a horse, a nice brown speckled one who held all of his provisions that might be needed for the journey.
Equipped with a strong sword and the enchanted amulet bouncing against his chest from the horse's trots, Emil set out. The journey surprisingly, didn't take too long. The castle was in sight, a place in ruins, but not extremely isolated. There was no snow anywhere, which was odd since they had been so up north to begin with. In fact, it was very hot.
Emil got off his horse, grabbed a few essentials for princess saving, and made his way towards the place. Fear began creeping down his spine. He was in no way prepared for this. They didn't teach 'princess saving' or 'dragon slaying' in schools much nowadays.
Climbing up the stairs of the tower, trying carefully not to trip over his own feet or sword, which was much too heavy for his liking.
He reached the top, took a deep breath, and knocked on the door.
After all, you can't just barge into a stranger's room, you don't know if they might be... changing clothes or something.
No response. Emil knocked on the door one more time.
"Hello?" A muffled voice came from the other side. Emil turned the handle gently, opening the door to the room. He was surprised at what he saw.
The room was mostly barren, besides a nice bed, a bedside table with a lamp on top, and a oriental rug.
"Um, Princess? Anyone need saving in here?"
"Sorta? Not really, to be honest." A voice rang out. A person wearing what appeared to be a variation of a classic Chinese Changshan came into Emil's view, and he was surprised he hadn't seen them sooner. The red article of clothing stood out in the small wooden room. However, upon closer inspection, this person was definitely not an Eastern Princess, but a Prince.
"Are you just gonna stare at me? I mean, if you like the view that much, continue, but I'd like to know my stalker's name if you don't mind."
"That's not it! I just didn't realize I'd be rescuing a dude. Not that that's... a problem, or anything. I didn't come for person gain or anything." Emil stammered.
"You are probably the most awkward person I have ever met, which is not saying much since I've been living in this place for about five years. What's your name?" The boy in front of Emil said. He appeared to be not much older than Emil was, looking about sixteen or seventeen.
"Oh, uh, Emil. Prince Emil Steilsson of the Nordic Kingdom." He gasped, clearing his throat.
"Nice. My name's technically Li Xiao Chun, but my English name's Leon. So call me Leon." He paused. "So, Mister Prince Emil Steilsson of the Nordic Kingdom, what brings you here, if it's not 'personal gain' as you said." Leon said the last bit while making quotation marks with his hands.
"Um, My brother told me to?"
"I thought King Mathias and Queen Lukas only had one kid, last I heard."
Emil once again made a choking noise. "No, they're not my parents. Queen Lukas is my brother."
"Makes sense." Leon shrugged his shoulders. "So, are we getting out of here, or are we just gonna talk for the rest of our lives?"
"Right! I've got to save you." Emil looked back at the door. "Wait, if that thing was unlocked this whole time, and there wasn't any dragon from what I've seen when I came here, why didn't you just leave on your own accord?"
"Eh. Being rescued is fun. Besides, this place has decent wifi reception."
Emil sighed. He really hoped his brother hadn't been planning any big wedding or anything, even if Leon was fairly attractive with his long brown hair and pretty eyes. He was a pain in the ass.
~~~~~
As Emil and Leon rode the horse back towards the kingdom, Emil began to feel cheated out. There wasn't even a dragon to slay, and there was definitely no getting laid in the top of the tower and flourishing back to the kingdom with a new wife or husband or anything. The fairytales lied to him.
He probably should have seen it coming though.
Leon had fallen asleep halfway through the ride somehow, and his head bounced against Emil's shoulder. The young prince struggled to keep control of the horse and keep the boy behind him on said horse.
Can I get a refund or something?
Nearly two hours later, Emil arrived at his palace, giving up on supporting Leon's full body weight and letting him drop off the horse onto the soft grass.
"Ow! What the-"
"We're here. Have a nice nap?"
"Like, it was good before you threw me off the horse."
"I didn't throw you, you fell. I did my job."
"You didn't even kiss me. That's like always the knight's job, to rescue the princess, then have true love's first kiss if the legends are anything to go by! And the legends are never wrong!" Leon exclaimed. Emil shrugged as he put his horse in the stable.
"Queen Lukas, my brother and a royal pain in my ass, I have rescued the oriental prince of the tower as you have asked me to." Emil took an overdramatic bow in front of his brother.
"That's what you address me as? Oriental prince of the tower? Is that racist?" Leon puzzled very quickly before properly introducing himself. "Li Xiao Chun, although my English name is Leon. I am no prince, contrary to what your little brother says."
"Please don't call me his little brother, it reminds me of how small I am."
"Still taller than me."
"Wonderful! I wasn't expecting a young man, but there is no problem with that!" The Queen exclaimed.
"Why does everyone figure a helpless figure is female? Is that sexist?"
"Leon, do me a favour and shut up for a minute." Emil snapped. He cleared his throat and proceeded. "I have done what you asked of me, and I'd wish to reunite Leon with his mother."
~~~~~
Leon looked at the young Icelandic prince as he was about to leave.
"So, like, thanks for saving me. It'll be nice to go back home."
"No problem. And I'm sure you're welcome in the Nordic Kingdom if you ever need help."
"Only thing I'll need help with is-"
"Leon! We've got to go!" A man who appeared to be Leon's brother yelled at him, cutting off Leon's potentially dirty sentence.
"Thanks again." Leon said, before quickly pecking Emil's cheek and running off into the horse drawn carriage, leaving Emil standing in the driveway of the castle, with a very smug looking Lukas looking over his shoulder.
