Arthur's breath hitched as his mate rubbed his sore back. The omega let out a soft groan and arched his spine against Alfred's hands.
"Careful." Alfred whispered. "Don't hurt yourself."
"Wasn't planning on it, Al." Arthur laughed, turning around and running his hands through his Alpha's dirty blonde hair.
Alfred smiled. "I wasn't done the massage yet."
Arthur positioned his small body over Alfred's, straddling his lover's hips with his legs and leaving just enough room between them for the omega to comfortably rest his growing belly. Alfred smiled and rest one of his hands on Arthur's baby bump.
"Isn't that uncomfortable?" Alfred said, observing the way Arthur's legs were bent.
"No, I feel quite comfortable, in fact." Arthur said, pausing for a second. "For a change. Your child can be a pain sometimes."
"A pain in your back, yet you don't let me finish giving you a loving, heartfelt massage. I don't understand you." Alfred chuckled, playfully mocking his mate.
"You love the mystery." Arthur laid a kiss on the end of Alfred's nose.
"I sure do." Alfred sighed. "Although one mystery I could do without-"
"I want the gender to be a surprise, Alfred. I told you I wanted that long before I got pregnant. You knew that was the condition. You agreed to that." Arthur's voice was stern, but his expression was light and full of happiness.

It made Alfred's heart flutter to see Arthur smile so brightly, and he'd begun doing that sunshiny, million dollar, beaming golden smile much more after the omega had told his Alpha he was expecting their child. Eight months later, Arthur was heavily pregnant, and despite the aforementioned backache, morning sickness, a bladder with the most inconvenient timing, horrible cravings, cramps, irritability, and even bad nightmares, Arthur continued smiling, and Alfred felt like that was the most magical part.
Yes, the fact that Arthur was growing their child inside of him, that in another short month he'd hold a new life in his arms, it was truly magical, yes, but it paled in comparison at the fact that Arthur, the most irritable, easy to annoy omega ever, was able to even bear a smile during so much pain and stress on his small body, yet did consistently.
It was truly amazing.

Arthur brushed a stray wheat-coloured hair out of Alfred's eyes, staring at the Alpha affectionately with big, beautiful green eyes. Alfred smiled.
"What?"
"Nothing. Just wondering if the baby will have your eyes." Alfred embraced his omega, holding him close despite the large baby bump between them. Alfred gave up trying to hold onto Arthur in the straddled position he was in, and gently moved Arthur to a sideways position, so their child didn't get squished in the midst of their hug.
"I don't know." Arthur said, wiggling a little as to get comfortable in the new position. "I like your eyes. They remind me of the bright blue sky in springtime."
Alfred smiled. "If we're comparing, I'd say your eyes are like the soft green grass in spring, with small golden flowers speckled about," Alfred sighed, almost dreamily. "The baby's due in spring too. Isn't that funny?"
Arthur chuckled. "It sure is, love." The omega arched his back lightly, feeling the unborn child's small kicks. Alfred seemed to take notice, as he quickly placed his hands on Arthur's stomach.
"Little bugger needs to either hurry up and come out, or sit still and wait for once. They're as energetic as their father." Arthur laughed, watching as Alfred put his cheek to his omega's large belly and proceeded to be kicked in the face by their child. Alfred registered what had happened and laughed as well.

"Hey." Alfred murmured softly, making an exhausted Arthur stir.
"What do you want?" Arthur whispered, green eyes bleary with sleepiness from not being able to get comfortable anymore.
"We still need to settle on the name." Alfred whispered. Neither of them knew why they were whispering. Arthur assumed it was not to disturb the unborn baby, but the little bastard was starting to kick again, meaning there was really no point in trying to convince Alfred to talk in the morning as he wasn't going to get much sleep anyway.
"We've got ideas..."
"Yeah, but ideas don't seem like enough. And since you're so stubborn I want to narrow it down to one or two options for both genders."
Arthur sighed, more tiredly than annoyed.
"I still like the name Tony."
"No Alfred. We've been over this."
"Come on!"
"We are not naming our child after Iron Man, or any other fictional superhero, mind you."
Alfred made a little huff and continued his list.
"Logan?"
"No."
"Scott?"
"No."
"Clark?"
"No."
"You won't even go for superman? What kind of person doesn't even consider naming their kid after superman?"
"Alfred." Arthur put his hand on his mate's face delicately. "Shut up and go to sleep."
Alfred nodded softly and closed his blue eyes, only to open them a second later.

"How about Kit?"
"Alfred."

The American gave a small laugh, but Arthur wasn't finding the deal super amusing.
"How about this. If the baby's a boy, I am fine with the name Kit, or Clark, or whatever. But if the baby's a girl, you need to be fine with the name I want."
Alfred stared at him. "Okay, what name do you want for a girl?"
"Charlotte."
Alfred smiled. "I like that. Okay, I'm good with that."
"That's not how this is supposed to go. You're supposed to protest for a second, then I remind you that we made a deal and the fact that I'm the one carrying our child, and then you give up the fight, apologize, kiss me on the forehead and go to sleep peacefully. That's how it's supposed to go. You're breaking the system, Jones."
Alfred laughed. He gently kissed Arthur on the forehead, brushing away soft blonde hair. "I can do the last two. Are you okay with that?"
Arthur was too tired to fight him on it.
"Yes dear. Please. Go to sleep.
