This one's going to be in two parts, this one, and its sequel that takes place right after. Both very fluffy Christmas themed ones.
Enjoy.Arthur sat in the airport, waiting for the 3:30pm plane to arrive. He checked his phone out of habit, something he'd started doing consistently after meeting a stranger online.
Alfred F. Jones was well known online for his crazy theories, and Arthur fell in love with his happy-go-lucky attitude and optimism. He reached out to talk to the boy and they'd become good friends, despite only ever having talked to each other over social media and even living on different continents, Alfred living in America and Arthur living in England.Just last year, they had arranged for Arthur to come to the States over the Fourth of July, and immediately afterwards planned for Alfred to come to England at some point in the next year. It was now December of 2016, and they still hadn't found a time to get together.
Alfred had texted him first.Hey Artie!
What's up, Alfred?
And don't call me Artie
Ha u nearly forgot
Anyway, I was wondering if you were gonna be free over Christmas?
Yeah. My brothers are coming over for a little bit on Christmas Day but other than that I'm free
I was wondering if you'd like to spend Christmas together
Don't you have family to go with?
That sounded passive aggressive, I'm sorry
Calm down dude, its fine
My bro is actually going to Ukraine to be with his girlfriend and her family for Christmas so were having our Christmas early
So I'd be alone otherwise
He's going all the way to Ukraine? Wow, that's crazy.
I don't see any reason why you couldn't come for the holidays
Omg dude that would b great
You're not allowed to come until your grammar improves
Aw ;-;
Despite the fact that Alfred never quite cleared up his texting etiquette, Alfred had boarded a plane to England nearly ten hours ago and was just about to arrive in Manchester, Arthur's home city. His internet friend had come all the way from California to spend the holidays with him. While it was 3:30 in the afternoon in Manchester, it was around 7:30 in the morning in California, which meant Alfred would be incredibly jet-lagged. It also meant that Alfred would have boarded the plane around 9:00 at night in America, so he'd probably slept on the flight and wouldn't be able to sleep once it became night.
Arthur watched out the large airport windows as the plane landed, and made his way to where Alfred would be getting off. The American was wearing an old brown bomber jacket and dark blue jeans, and was on his way to pick up his luggage when Arthur caught sight of him, his sun-kissed skin standing out against the paler Britons.
"Hey Alfred!" Arthur said happily, and he wasn't sure if it sounded too happy or not happy enough. Human interaction wasn't his strong point, that's why he'd met his best friend on the internet. The American turned around, and his pretty blue eyes lit up at the sight of Arthur.
"Artie! Oh my god dude, it's great to see you again."
"It's good to see you too, Alfred. In person, that is." Arthur chuckled. "How was the plane trip?"
"Slept the whole way here." The American grabbed his bag from the luggage pick-up and set it down beside him, turning to Arthur and embracing him in a warm hug.
There was nothing in the world better than an Alfred hug.
Arthur wouldn't admit that to him though, as he reluctantly pushed Alfred's arms off him. "Bring your bag, we've got to go before rush hour."
Alfred followed the blushing brit. "Isn't rush hour around 7:00?"~~~~~
"I'm sorry, the house is kind of a mess. I didn't have much time to clean." Arthur said, although the apartment seemed rather tidy, other than a few books scattered along the couch. He led Alfred to a guest room, which was relatively barren, he obviously didn't use it much. "I hope it's okay."
"It's actually pretty nice, Artie. Thanks." Alfred smiled, as he gazed directly into Arthur's emerald green eyes. They both stood in silence for a good minute, awkwardly not saying a thing as they stared at each other. Alfred chuckled nervously."So... Um... bathroom's around the corner, kitchen's just over there, feel free to grab something to eat whenever." Arthur said, trying to break the tension. He stared at Alfred's lips without realizing, and noticed as Alfred leaned a little bit closer.
'Is he trying to kiss me?'
Arthur's heart pounded in his chest. He found himself leaning close to meet Alfred's lips, kissing softly and nervously. It was the wimpiest little peck on the lips that Arthur had ever given or received, and neither of them knew what to do afterwards. Arthur pulled away, leaving Alfred staring at him.
"I-" Arthur started to say, but blushed a bright red and quickly left the room.~~~~~
"So, uh, do you want to go somewhere or anything?" Arthur stumbled over his words. "Like, you've been in England for an hour, do you want to go sightseeing? Maybe go around town, or something?" The freckled brit was turning red again.
"Sure." Alfred grabbed his coat. "You have a place in mind?"
"Well, there's a really nice park not too far from here, and the Whitworth Art Gallery isn't far either... there's also a few nice casual restaurants I know, if you're hungry."
"The park sounds nice. I love going for walks!" Alfred smiled. "Maybe we can grab a bite to eat after that and we can go to that Art Gallery another day?"
"That sounds good, yes." Arthur put on his coat, a nice long black one with traditional styled buttons. As the two left the apartment, Arthur felt a snowflake land on his nose. It was snowing, and it looked like they might finally get a few days of snow and maybe even a white Christmas. Alfred stared in awe.
"Are you okay, Al?"
"I've lived in California my whole life. I've... I've never really seen a proper snowfall."
Arthur stared back at him. "Are you serious? You're twenty-one and never seen snow?"
"I've seen snow! Just never this much, and it never stayed on the ground. It's so pretty. England's just covered in white."Arthur smiled. He'd never seen anyone in such awe at a simple snowfall. "I've always considered snow kind of annoying. The heating bill skyrockets, you've got to bundle up tightly if you try to go anywhere, and you're going to get your socks wet no matter what." He sighed. "But I see what you mean. It is very beautiful."
"It sure is." Alfred had this million dollar grin on his face that made Arthur melt. "Can we make a snowman in the park?"
Arthur laughed. "Of course! C'mon, let's get there before it stops!"Alfred's excitement was infectious. The park was beautiful, the snow falling dramatically through the trees. The two young men rolled around in the snow like children, happily making a small snowman. There was no way they didn't look like a gay couple to the passerby, and to Arthur's delight, nobody seemed to care. Alfred's sapphire eyes shone amongst the winter wonderland as he packed the snow together clumsily. Arthur turned his back for a second, which turned out to be a mistake as he got pelted with a snowball directly in the middle of his back, the sudden impact causing the blonde to fall over in the snow.
"Oops! Sorry Artie..." Alfred rushed over to the Brit's side. "Are you okay-"
Arthur grabbed a fistful of snow and stuffed it down Alfred's coat, making the American scream.
"HOLY SHIT ARTIE, THAT'S REALLY COLD"
"No shit, Sherlock. It's snow."Alfred pinned the smaller blonde down in the snow. Arthur struggled against Alfred's strong form for a minute, before flopping back in the snow, defeated.
"You've won. I'm dead."
"Then I must revive you, and make you the queen to my snow kingdom. We shall reign in superiority over the land of Manchester, bringing peace and joy to the world."
"You're a bigger nerd than I remember." Arthur said.
"You love it."
"You act like we're a couple."
"I wouldn't mind."
"We live on the other side of the world, and long distance relationships never last. You know that."
"They actually say that 10% of long distance relationships last just fine, and the chance of meeting someone online who isn't a creep in some way has got to be around 3%. You've lucked out already, what do you have to lose?"
"My virginity." Arthur deadpanned. Alfred stared back at him.
"Are you actually serious?"
"No." Arthur laughed. Alfred laughed as well as he cradled Arthur's head and kissed him passionately, and properly, in the middle of the park. Their cheeks were flushed pink from the cold, both of them smiling against each others' lips.
"Are you hungry yet?" Arthur asked.
"Oh am I hungry-" Alfred murmured in a husky tone, but Arthur quickly cut him off.
"Good, cause I'm starved and I know a good restaurant close to here. Hope you like Pizza."
