Once upon a time, there was a lovely young girl named Arthur Kirkland.
Her father loved her very much, as she reminded him of the wife he'd lost all those years ago.

When Arthur was 16, her father married a woman he had met in town. She seemed nice enough, Arthur thought, as she had a cat and people who had cats must be nice.
The woman had two daughters, Feliciano and Lovino, the same age as Arthur. They were snobby and downright spoiled. But Arthur did not comment on this as she had been raised better than that.

Three months later, Arthur's father died durning a trip. Arthur cried and cried, but her stepmother and stepsister did not even bat an eyelash. They did not seem to care.

When Arthur returned from her father's funeral, her stepmother and stepsisters set to work making sure she knew she was not wanted. They used her as a slave, calling her by a new name, as they thought Arthur was too much of a nice name for a girl now constantly covered in dust and dirt.
They called her Tsunderella.

Arthur made friends with mice, the only things who seemed to understand her suffering. She constantly was being called to do laundry, clean rooms, tend to the fire, and many more demeaning chores.
It was unacceptable, honestly.

One day, when Arthur retrieved the mail, she noticed there was a message from the Palace. Apparently Prince Alfred Jones had returned to the kingdom and was having a ball held in his honour. Every maiden in the kingdom was to attend.
Arthur reluctantly told her stepmother and stepsisters, even though she honestly wanted to keep it to herself.

Arthur's stepsisters were extremely excited, as they had always dreamed of meeting the prince. Her stepmother seemed more than ready to leave for town to buy their dresses, but Arthur spoke up.
"Stepmother, the note says every maiden in the kingdom is to attend. That includes me, does it not?"

Her stepmother stared at her.
"What would a child like you want to attend a royal ball? Surely you have no dresses fit enough to wear in front of the Prince?"
Her stepmother looked to her stepsisters, who only giggled.
"Very well. If you find a dress suitable for the ball, you may go."
"Oh, thank you stepmother!" Arthur said gratefully, and dashed to her room.

She pulled out a old dress that had belonged to her mother, and looked at it. It was dreadfully out of fashion.
"With a few spools of cloth and some ribbon, I can make this dress look brand new." Arthur exclaimed, looking at the soft pink dress.
As she pulled out a sewing pattern and a needle and thread, the bell rang for her from Lovino's room.
"TSUNDERELLA!" She screamed.
Arthur sighed and left the room.

After Arthur left, her mice friends looked at the dress.
"Poor Tsunderella. She will never be able to finish the dress in time." A mouse named Gilbert sighed.
"We can do it!" A mouse named Elizabeta called out. "Tsunderella has done so much for us, this is the least we can do for her!"

The mice went to work, singing in their squeaky mice voices as they cut cloth and tied ribbons. In two hours, they had made an old rag into a brand new, beautiful dress. Arthur opened her door and to her surprise, she was faced with her mother's dress, which was now beautiful.
"Surprise!" The mice squeaked.
"We fixed up your dress for you since you didn't have the time. It was Elizabeta's idea." A mouse named Roderich squeaked.
"Thank you so much!" Arthur exclaimed. "It's gorgeous! Stepmother will surely have to let me go to the ball now!"

On the night of the ball, Arthur walked down the staircase in her dress. Her stepsisters and stepmother stared at her in disbelief.
"How did you-" Feliciano started to ask, but was cut of by Lovino.
"Why, that's my sash!" She screamed, and tore it off Arthur's dress. Both sisters started screaming as they tore apart Arthur's dress. Arthur cried and ran into the courtyard as her stepsisters cackled in the background.
