How beautiful to find a heart that loves you without asking for anything except for you to be okay.

Darrel Curtis

Loving her... was never easy. It was always a challenge - then again love always is. I can remember staying up until 2...3 in the morning worrying over a fight we had three weeks earlier and how it was affecting her; wondering if this was it, if she was going to call it quits over how much of an idiot I was. I can vividly remember my mother coming into my room to comfort me after I'd woken her up by throwing something against the wall at 4:30 in the morning and every time she would always say the same thing it would always be "The truth is that the more intimately you know someone, the more clearly you'll see their flaws. That's just the way it is. That is why marriages fail, why children are abandoned, why friendships don't last. You might think you love someone until you see the way they act when they're out of money or under pressure or hungry, for goodness' sake. Love is something different; love is choosing to serve someone and be with someone in spite of their filthy heart. Love is patient and kind, love is deliberate. Love is hard. Love is pain and sacrifice, it's seeing the darkness in another person and defying the impulse to jump ship." She would rub my back and hand me a cup of coffee and stay up with me till the sun rose just to make sure I was alright and I wouldn't hurt myself anymore; that woman had the kindest heart I knew in this cruel town of hate and rank and throwing around insults every chance you got. And just before she went back to her bed she would turn to me and, in the silence, she would say "That girl wouldn't be coming back to you time after time if she didn't love you."

That's what brought me to this situation here today. I realized I loved Olivia Sheldon and I hoped to God I didn't hurt her like I did Paisley; there was nothing I could do anymore to stop these feelings from blossoming, I just hoped I could keep them in check.

I was staring at her from across the room as she moved quickly around the counter taking orders and dropping plates of food off at the correct tables; she had yet to notice me staring at her, as it was a busy day and she had no time for distractions.

"Dude, that's creepy. Are you taking stalking to a whole new level or somethin'?"Dally leaned over from his seat beside me to whisper into my ear.

"Shut up Dally." I ground on through my teeth, glaring at him.

"Awww, somebody has a little crush." Dally fake pouted his lips and widened his eyes, turning to me.

If only he knew, I almost scoffed.

"Oh look, here she comes." He spoke into my ear while pointing.

"Put your finger down." I slapped his hand and turned to Olivia with a smile, as she was standing in front of us.

"What can I get for you?" She asked with a sweet smile, and if possible it widened when she saw us.

"Two family packs I presume?" Olivia cocked her head. I only nodded in fear of making a fool of myself and swallowed around the lump in my throat at how effortlessly beautiful she looked.
