Skylar's POV

I woke up to the loud sound of my alarm clock which caused me to shoot up from my pillow. I quickly grabbed my phone to shut off the alarm then I stood up to go get ready for school. I reached for the light then gathered my clothes to put on. I decided on a plain black shirt and some jeans. Then I put on some black socks and red vans. Once I was done, I put on a little mascara and lipstick, nothing too fancy, but presentable. I put on my red hot chili peppers jacket and my backpack then made my way out the door.

I made my way to the corner of my street to meet Nick since we always walk to school together. We used to walk with Tanner too but he got a new GTR and now he drives to school. We haven't really seen much of him ever since he gained fame from YouTube and became one of the popular kids.

Every once in a while, he'll offer us a ride but I say no because it gives me extra time to hang out with my best friend. Me and Nick have been considered "popular" in school too but not as much as tanner. I mean, the group he hangs with is huge compared to ours. I don't care though, I know they aren't my real friends...they are all fake towards me. I've heard them talking bad about me when I turn my back. The only real friends I've ever had is Tanner and Nick, but now all I have is Nick.

"Skylar is everything okay?" Nick asked, breaking me out of my thoughts

I just shrugged my shoulders

He sighs at my silent response "Talk" He states simply

"People are just talking" I reply

"About?" He asks while raising an eyebrow

"Tanner" I sigh

"What are they saying?" He asks while wrapping his arm around my shoulder

"They have been saying that he has been sleeping around. And that he is now the definition of a fuckboy or a manwhore" I reply

"I wouldn't doubt it" he laughs slightly

"Its not funny and I know, it's just..." I sighed "he's not the same Tanner I remember"

"People change" he says "they are just thirsty for attention"

"We haven't changed though. The three of us used to be best friends but now it's just us" I sigh again

"Don't be sad at least we still have each other" he smiles

We walked in silence the rest of the way to school. We didn't even say bye to each other when we separated to go to class. I got to my first class and sat down right as the bell rang and the teacher started talking about the assignments for the day. I put my headphones in and I tuned out the world for the class period.

The final bell rang and everyone jumped out of their seats and crowded the door, hurrying to get home. I walked down the mostly empty hall to my locker and put my books back in it. When I closed my locker, there was a person standing there and I jumped back and screamed.

I heard laughter "woah calm down sky, it's just me" tanner smirked

"Tanner? What are you doing here?" I ask while picking up my phone after I dropped it

"I thought I'd give you a ride home" he replies

"No thanks, I'll walk" I say

"Come on please" he grabs my wrist and smiles again "I wanna talk"

"Why?" I sigh and grab my bag of the floor

"Just because" he states, a smile still plastered on his face

I just looked  at him and he gave me sad eyes

"Fine" I say rolling my eyes
