I woke up to my bedroom door opening so I looked up and saw my parents standing in the doorway.

"Mom? Dad?" I ask and rub my eyes

They said nothing and only turned on the light then came to sit in my bed.

"Where were you?" My dad asked

"Out" I reply calmly

"With who?" My mom asks

"Tanner" I say, avoiding eye contact

"You were out with Tanner till 11:30 at night?" My dad asks angrily

"Yeah" I sigh, knowing there was a punishment not far behind

"We don't want you hanging around him anymore" my mom says

"But mom, he is just starting to come around again. This is the first time I've hung out with him in six months" I cry softly

"He's different now" she says

"No he's not" I say

"Yes he is. Your mother and I have heard about him. He just sleeps around with girls now. He's not the boy who was your best friend" My dad says

"Yes he is. He hasn't changed and if you must know mom, I talked to him about those rumors and he told me they were lies. He's not like that mom. He even told me in the car that he doesn't want that from anyone" I say

"Skylynn, do NOT argue with me. This is non-negotiable. You are not to see that boy again" my mom replies

"But-" I start and am immediately cut off

"No, Skylynn. Don't argue with me or your punishment will be worse" she says angrily

Then she left my room. "Dad please, I swear to you. He hasn't done anything to me or any other girl. He is a good kid and he was my best friend. Please don't do this" I cry

"I'll talk to her" he replied and shut off the light and walked out the door

I immediately heard my parents arguing in the other room and I just sat in the complete darkness. Benny whined by my side because he could tell I was upset so I cuddled up to him and went back to sleep.

I walked down the street and just looked around, breathing in the warm fresh air.

"Hey Skylar, wait up" I hear a voice call from behind me

I turned around to see Tanner running towards me. I could hear him panting as he struggled to breathe

"Hi" I said as he caught up to me

"What's wrong?" He asks, finally catching his breath

"My parents don't want me around you" I sigh

"Why?" He asks sadly

"Because you brought me home too late" I say

"Oh. Sorry. I guess I just wanted to spend as much time with you as I could" he smiled but frowned immediately after

"It's fine" I sigh "I had fun"

"I guess I'll go then so you don't get in trouble" he replies

"You don't have to go Tanner" I say

"Are you sure?" He asks

"Yeah. What my parents don't know won't hurt them" I smile

"Ok" he says and starts to walk beside me

So for the next hour or so, we walked around a random park and talked, catching up on everything that happened while we were parted.
