A dark figure

(A little nswf-ish at the beginning)

Yato was standing behind Hiyori, his hands resting on her hips. His mouth was right next to her ear, she could feel his hot breath and his hair was tickling her neck. She felt her whole body tingling. The warm feeling of his body softly pressing against hers was a tempting sensation and she felt her self control fade.

"You know, I just thought about something the two of us could do", he said with his most seductive voice, that send shivers down Hiyori's spine.

Her face was red, while Yato's hands moved from her hips, to embrace her in a tight hug and kissed her neck. A moan escaped her lips, when she felt his tongue on the sensitive skin on her neck.

Since her attention didn't focus on the cookies she was baking, Yato had no problem with stealing one of them and scram without getting beaten up by his girlfriend.

"W-What ... Why, w-what d-did ... y-you?", she stuttered, not getting what just happened.

Yato actually managed to distract her, just to steal a cookie, "YATOOOOOOOOOO!"

The blue eyed god's masterly plan turned out to be one of his biggest failures. After Hiyori had chased him down, he received a beating like only a martial arts fan could execute. Performing all kinds of painful wrestling moves, Hiyori managed to get the cookie back and left the mess that used to be Yato laying on the ground.

"I said to wait until I'm finished! Now get back to whatever you were doing and stop messing around. I didn't sign up for raising another child!", she reprimanded Yato.

"It was worth a try. I don't have anything to do, the kids are in Tsuki's room, I don't get any job calls at all and you are standing in the kitchen all day on your free day. I feel lonely Hiyoriiiiii. At least let me have one cookie", he whined.

"Don't be a baby. I'll be done in a bit so just deal with it. After that, we have the whole afternoon for ourselves", she patted his had as she spoke, a gesture of affection.

After Hiyori told him to wait patiently, Yato made his way into the bathroom. The bandage on his neck was a little to tight and the bite marks were healing quickly, like his wounds always did.

He filled the sink with ice cold water, removed the bandage Hiyori had carefully put on after cleaning the wound and used a water soaked rag to press against his neck. The cold of the water felt good and made the itchy feeling go away for a short while.

The icy blue eyes of his reflection in the mirror were looking straight back at him, while he remembered the day of their visit at the pool. The day he had received the bite marks.

Rei's father came to get his son because his job was finished sooner than they'd expected. He was angry because Rei didn't answer the phone when he tried to call him. Given the huge amount of people surrounding them, he couldn't do anything to his son.

Just yet.

With a tight grip around his wrist, he dragged the young boy out of the public place and into his car.

Yato, Hiyori and Tsuki quickly said goodbye to everyone and followed the two of them, in order to prevent his dad from doing something else to his son, by just being present. Thanks to their actions, Rei was spared from another violent attack from his father.

An odd coincidence that Rei's father suddenly appeared on that exact day and moment, Yato thought.

On his way back into the kitchen Yato had to pass Tsuki's room. Her door was slightly opened and he could hear Rei's voice nervously telling the two others something important, it seemed.

"I s-swear, I-I'm not m-making this u-up! I-I saw it! It w-was there", he stuttered.

"We believe you Rei! That sounds terrible, we have to go and talk to dad, I'm sure he can do something about it", Tsuki consoled her friend.

"What do you need to tell me?", Yato asked, entering the room without hesitation.

Rei's visible eye tried to avoid Yato, obviously being ashamed.

"Rei said that he is seeing weird things at night lately. He heard his father talking to himself and through a little gap in the door he could make out weird looking dogs that were glowing", Tsuki explained for her friend.

Once again, Yato felt how he was dragged into a state of cold fear. Glowing, dog shaped things. There was no doubt about it. They had to be his father's Ayakashi.

"Weird looking dogs you say. And they were inside your house?", he asked.

"Y-Yes. T-They were really creepy. I-I was afraid t-that you w-wouldn't believe me", the shy boy admitted shakily.

"There is no reason for us to not believe you", Yukine assured, "Those things were Ayakashi. There is no reason for you to be scared. Yato and I will take care of that problem. Right?"

Yato's thoughts were wandering off. All those years he was looking for his father and didn't have any idea where he could be, and now.

Now he got one clue after another that had a connection to his old man. First the attack of the masked Ayakashi at the pool and now his father's wolfs appearing in Rei's house.

"Yato! Hey Yato, say something. Earth to Yato, are you still with us?", Yukine called out to the mentally absent god.
"Y-Yes. Don't worry brat, we will take care of this", he said, "By the way, isn't your dad angry that you are here? I thought he was against you visiting us when he is at home."

"He usually would be but this time he even told me to come here. He said he had things to do and that I shouldn't disturb him", Rei explained.

"Hmm ... strange. A-Anyway, leave it to us, we will take care of your problem", and with those last words he left the room.

Outside, Hiyori was waiting for Yato and she had heard everything they were talking about.

"Rei is having problems with Ayakashi?", she asked worried.
"I wish it were just normal Ayakashi but it looks like they are way more than that.", Yato's face was pale.

"Masked ones huh? Do you think your dad is behind this?"

"There is no doubt about it. He is the only one who can use the masked ones. Just like the Ayakashi at the pool. Dad is somewhere out there and he is making his first move. We have to be careful from now on. Who knows what he is scheming."

The thought about it made Yato's stomach cramp nervously. If he knew that Yato had contact with Hiyori again there was no way he would let them be. The time had come, to be more than careful and watch everything that was going on around him and his family.

It was his responsibility to make sure no harm would come to any of his loved ones. That even included Rei. If he was Tsuki's friend, Yato had to make sure that he was safe.

"Yato, you know I thought about something", Hiyori said, "What if your father is using Rei's father's body?"
