Leo had never felt this way. He had never been so guilty, and so apparent of his feelings for a girl. This was different for him. He had no idea how to fix his problem and how to undo the fuck up he has created. He hurt Sage, and he couldn't stand that. He hated that.
"And to think, I actually thought that this could be something." Those words continued to play through Leo's head as he sipped on a Bud-light as he tried to watch the football game that bored the shit out of him at the bar. He sighed, sliding the beer across the counter to have it stopped by a manicured hand. He slowly looked up and saw Sage.
"A beer please." She asked, not bothering to meet Leo's eyes. He could see the hurt in her eyes. The same hurt he saw the night he first met her. I did her the same way Parker did. Leo thought to himself, as he poured her the alcohol and slid to her. She hesitated to pick up the drink, hell, she hesitated to even come to the bar but she didn't have anywhere else to go. Seeing Leo crushed her though, and she was now having second thoughts about everything - including meeting him.
Sage thought he wasn't the same as Parker and maybe a little piece of her still hoped he wasn't, but she wouldn't dare look at him - give him the satisfaction. So, she picked the drink up slowly and chugged it down in the matter of seconds, and lightly pressed a ten dollar bill down on the counter and stood up, her head spinning from the sudden alcohol she had consumed and began walking out of the bar.
She wanted, no needed, Leo to say something. Stop her in her tracks and tell her he was so sorry and he never meant to hurt her. And Leo wanted to - more than anything - but he knew that it wouldn't change the hurt he placed in her heart and it certainly wouldn't turn back time so he could just say no to Celeste.
So he didn't say anything, and he was sure a piece of him left with Sage when she walked out of the bar doors without turning back to run into his arms like he hoped. Because this wasn't a magical world and this wasn't a dream - it was real life; the fucked up part - and even if he was the one to run into her arms it wouldn't change a damn thing.
I am so very sorry for this extremely short chapter.
It has been forever since I updated and the reason is because of this damn chapter. I have changed it so many times, wrote it and deleted it more than twice and then just left it until tonight when I suddenly got inspiration for this chapter.
I know it's not good, and I certainly don't like the atmosphere of it once so ever but this is how I want the story to go. Of course, this isn't the end and I still have a lot for these two characters, so hopefully I will be able to write more - at least I hope so.
Anyways, I hope you don't mind the short chapter and wasn't completely disappointed in this update. Until next time,
- Hannah.
