Author's Note
Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been busy with family and such, and I just haven't had the time to sit down and write anything I actually like enough to post. But here's a new chapter, and I hope you like it. :)
Christmas and New Years had passed. All had settled down, and it had seemed like Leo and Sage were inseparable now. They had done many activities together - seeing Christmas lights, decorating Leo'a apartment - they had even spent a rather awkward evening with Leo's family on Christmas, and they had even counted down together to bring in the new year. And each day, their feelings progressed, and now they both knew that they had total adoration for one another and that they were in love with each other.
And now being separated, with Leo sprung out on his couch petting his cat, Kata, he realized just how much he missed Sage. He sighed to himself, rubbing the soft cat's fur, the only audible sound being the purring that was coming from the content kitten.
"I really miss her." He said aloud, running his free hand through his hair. The cat meowed, nuzzling against his side. Leo laughed through his nose, shaking his head at himself. "You understand right? Do you know what's it like, you know, to be with someone for so long and then just say goodbye and not see them for what seems like centuries?"
He looked down and noticed that Kata was already fast asleep. Leo leaned back and breathed out a loud breath. "Here I am talking to a fucking cat, who doesn't even understand me. Telling it all my problems, when all it wants to do is sleep," he licked his lips, "Jesus Christ I'm a mess. I guess this is what love does to you."
"I-I don't know how to explain it," Sage began, her brother nodding for her to finish. After spending days with Leo, she had to tell someone how she was feeling. And she knew that the only one she really had by her side besides Leo was her brother, Nick. She closed her eyes and sighed, "after all of this time, after everything we've already been through, Nick, I can see myself marrying Leo. I can see raising a family with him, owning a house. I can see a real future with him, a-and I'm really scared."
Nick rubbed her sister's shoulder, trying to not show that he was utterly shocked that his sister was in love. "Sis, you need to tell him how you feel. If he feels the same, which the way you describe how he is with you, I think he is, it will be easy."
Sage loved her brother more than words could speak. They were naturally close, being twins and all, and it seemed like he always knew exactly what to say and how she was feeling. "I just don't know if I'm ready for all of that. I don't know if he is," she looked down, her eyes tearing up, "but I know I love him, and I think because... I thought that I could never love him is why I love him so much. He's... he's so special to me, a-and he makes me feel like a queen and," she sighed, sniffling, "I think I'm ready to tell him how I feel. I just want him to know how much I love him because he deserves that."
Nick knew his sister. He knew when she was ready to do something, she would do it. He was certainly proud of her. "You deserve to know if he feels the same, sis. Tell him exactly how you feel," Sage looked over at Nick as he smiled at her, "I'm proud of you for doing this. I'm proud of you for moving on."
Sage smiled back at him and hugged her brother, nervous but excited to tell Leo that she loves him.
