Courtney P.O.V.

"Please Cory. Please oh pretty, pretty please," Lily begged, jutting out her lower lip in, what was in my opinion, a failed attempt at a pout.

I rolled my eyes at her persistence and shook my head once again. "No, I'm not going to."

"But it would be so cool!"

"But I would also look horrible with red hair," I pointed out, even though it was a lie. After all, I had put red highlights in my hair a while ago. Just in case you're wondering, Lily was trying to convince me to use my metamorphmagus powers to change my hair red for the Quidditch match later today.

"No you wouldn't. Please, for me," she said again, now giving me a sorrowful look with eyes downcast as though I had just told her I hated her guts. Sometimes I wonder why Lily hadn't gotten together with James sooner. I swear, those two are the most persistent and stubborn people I have ever met.

"Fine, alright!" I groaned, giving in to her constant pestering and pleading. Normally, I would never agree to do something like this and not once budge from my opinion, but I was really worn down after the past couple of days. James was pushing the team harder than ever at Quidditch, not only because we only had three days of actual team practice before the game, but also because he was a fanatic when it came to the blasted game. That boy could not go one day without having a conversation about Quidditch. But Quidditch wasn't my only problem at the moment. Sirius seemed determined to talk to me and made it his life's mission to get on my good side and explain himself. Between his continuous annoying presense and the pressure being placed on the team, I just didn't have the will to go against Lily for once.

"Are you okay?" she asked quietly, stopping me in the middle of the hallway. Lily had been hanging around the boys more often now that she was with James, so I was stuck with the other girls. They weren't that bad, but Marlene could get a little obnoxious at times and Joselynn was too quiet for my liking. Plus, I couldn't joke around with them like I could with Lily or the boys. They never took my insults to heart and made a big deal about it. Instead, they'd just fire one right back at me. If I was honest with myself, I missed those days, but they were behind me now.

"I'm fine Lils," I said, forcing a reasurring smile and hopping the last couple of stairs to Transfiguration. "Honestly."

She gave me a sceptical look, but obviously decided not to press the issue. "Yeah, okay. Just know that I'm always here for you." Lily flashed me an encouraging smile before bouncing off to James, as I expected. I sank into my seat, fiddling idley with my quill and not really paying attention to what McGonagall was talking about. A random wad of paper hit the back of my head and I flipped in my seat to glare at James, who shot me a cheeky grin. He gestured to the paper and somehow managed to convey, after a series of strange and eccentric hand motions, that I was to read it.

I glanced up at McGonagall, who was absorbed in her lecture, before smoothing out the crinkled wad of paper.

I heard the annual Christmas Ball is going to be held at your place this year.

I recognized James' messy scrawl and quickly wrote an answer back, checking once more to see if McGonagall was paying the slightest amount of attention to me.

Yeah, so you and your filthy ass better come or I'll murder you in your sleep.

I tossed it back over my head, before bending over my parchment and pretending to take notes. I heard James chuckle slightly in amusement before the paper hit me again.
