I roll over, searching for my phone in my bunk. I yawn, trying to muffle my little moan with my hands. I sit up, pulling away the curtain which someone must of drawn for me. There's no one in their bunks but i hear shouting from the room beside this one. Probably fighting over a video game as always.
It's now 6 o'clock and I've managed to nap through my whole day. God bless. There's just 3 more hours till we start all over again, this time in Denver.
I find my phone sitting at the end of my bed. I forgot I had plugged it in to charge. There's no missed calls, of course. But does read a text message.
"Hey Ryan (;" I read over it before realizing its from Beat.
"What's up? I miss you."
"I heard you kissed Ashton."
I just look at my phone for a minute. Why would he tell her? Well, he probably told Calum. Damn boy can't keep his mouth shut.
"Who told you?"
"Calum. Well, kinda." I sigh but before I reply, I receive another one from her. "Was it good?"
"I was wet." I send, laughing at my own joke. "He spilt water on me. I'm avoiding him."
I put my phone back down to the place it was before. I sit up and push my hair back but my bangs just flop back into my face. Fuck. I get up, pushing the button that opens to door to the back lounge.
When I walk in, all fighting seems to go silent and they all look at me oddly. I roll my eyes and plant my butt on the edge, farthest away from them all.
They continue playing but their glances still revert to me often. I feel my phone vibrate but right now isn't a good time to talk about Ashton seeing I'm sitting next to him.
"What the fuck do you want?" I turn my head.
"Why are you grumpy?" Luke pouts, sticking out his lower lip. "We tried not to disturb you." I grunt, seeing how I did kind of hurt him.
"What're you guys fighting over?" I ask, looking up at the TV screen.
"The boys are being annoying." Michael sigh, holding his game controller away from Calum who's reaching for it.
"Michael won't let us play." Calum sticks his tongue out at him, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Oh."
"Tell him to share!" Ashton begs.
"I'm a hair stylist, not a babysitter." I pull my phone out but I look over at the boys, giving a slightly mean look.
I just sit like that, giving them a mean look. Ashton notices first and shoots me back confused look before biting his lip. I point to the lounge door and quickly head out, as a signal for him to follow behind me.
I make my bed and sit down, criss-cross style and wait for him to come in.
A few seconds later, he comes in shuffling with his head hanging a bit low, but a big cheeky grin on his face.
"What?" Ashton asks.
"Telling everyone we kissed now?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrows at him.
"They're my mates!" Moving his arms towards the door as a gesture for the boys.
"Well then."
"Don't act like it didn't mean anything.." He said, leaning forward towards me. "I'm sorry I spilt water on you.."
"That's funny." I laugh. "Cause it meant nothing." I sigh. "It was in the moment, and you don't know what you're feeling cause if you did, you'd know it wouldn't be towards me."
He just sits there, looking at his hands that are tangled in front of him. He opens his mouth to say something, but quickly gets up and heads back to the lounge.
****
"Hey Ryan?" I hear a little, deep voice say in a slight whisper.
I pull a headphone out and open my curtain to find myself face to face with Luke, who's crouching.
"Too close, Hemmings." I push on how forehead with my index finger, making tip over a bit.
"Ashton looks like a hurt puppy in there." He says, looking at the door. "And you've been in this bunk for nearly 13 hours." He points at his watch, now showing 8:34.
"So? What's your point?" I pull my blanket to my chin. I roll over, watching the ceiling.
"Something is bugging you both." He pushes my legs aside, sitting on the end of my bed.
"You're bugging me."
"Ryan. Fuck off. Stop being mean." I'm taken aback by his bluntness all of a sudden. "Don't play me, or Ashton like that. Or any of the other boys."
"Im not playing."
"I know you're somewhat soft hearted. And Ashton sees that. He sees through you, even thought I haven't managed yet."
"Why do you say that." I sit up, putting my back to the wall.
"He said that he could tell by the way you gave in to his kiss. How you didn't fight him, and you even kissed back a bit even though you were wet and everyone could see your bra."
I just sit there and look at Luke. All of a sudden, he is no longer an immature twat that I meet about a few weeks ago who would rather play in the pool than talk to me. He sits in front of me as a wise teenage boy, who would still rather play in pool but not that I blame him.
"Ryan?" He speaks up again.
"You say my name a lot." I cut through my trance and just blink, looking around.
"I heard Michael be mean to you about your name." He kinda chuckles. "I thought if I said it a lot, you'd forget that. You're mean when you're angry."
"Duh. Everyone is." I shake my head. "And it is a boy name. But anyways. Are we almost there?"
He nods and hands me my cellphone and charger before getting up and making it over to his bunk, grabbing the few things that he needs.
I lay back down in my bed, cozzying up before pulling ,myself out and rolling onto the floor. I just say there for a minute, face down.
"You okay?" Luke asks, giggling.
"This is a sleeping position I know a bit too well. Except it lacks the smell of gutter."
There a silence before he chuckles. I laugh too, getting up. I sling my bag over my shoulder and knock on the lounge door before opening it.
All the boys are sitting close together, watching a movie. I tap my wrist as a signal that its time to go. They all grunt in chorus and mumble words to each other following behind me out of the room like little ducklings.
I make my way to sit at the front of the bus. We're now Ina completely different surrounding and the sun is still shinning, even though its 9:20.
I smile, realizing I get to see Lou now after a whole day of fuckery with these boys. And not in the good way.
But maybe, I kinda sorta don't regret taking this bus today.
