I push my hair back into a pony tail as I log onto my laptop, typing as fast as I can. A few days ago, I sent in a resume to be an intern with a pretty fancy lady not to long ago; I keep checking for a reply on my Gmail. Im nervous, yet excited. I wouldnt exactly hire me either. I tend to get impatient, but now it's nuts.
Last week, I applied for experience hours to work with Lou Teasdale. Just some basic styling hours. She is looking for someone to teach on her tips and tricks. I could be a future protégée but for now I am nothing, really, just a soon-to-be-intern. But, with that possible title of "Lou Teasdale's intern" came an american tour of training alongside my most favourite band ever; 5 Seconds of Summer. Four teenage boys that I'm nearly in love with. Well, like "fan love". I'm excited, now.
My mom and I have been saving money forever for college but with these intern hours, I might not need it. The money will go for food and hotel room to pitch in my bit. But I don't mind, I have no where else to go after high school, anyways. College and University is not for everyone. Especially not for me. I give no fricks.
I open it up, refreshing the page multiple times. I check my Twitter, Tumblr and even Facebook to see if she hired anyone else for this. Or if the boys had tweeted anything about being excited for a new member. Maybe they'll befriend ME and I'll be the fifth member of 5SOS! Probably not.. but hey. NEW MAIL! I open it up, squealing quietly.
Dear Ryan,
I have looked over the portfolio that you have sent me. Let me say that I do dearly enjoy you're style and how you explain it as "punk rock librarian". I'd love to state at first that I was not found of your hair colour choices, nor style but it has seemed to grow on me. I would like you to consider a makeover to help pop your style. As you called, pop punk librarian. You seem very laid back and I enjoy that. And the bands you will help me with will enjoy that as well.
So with this, I have decided to except you to follow up behind me as assistant/intern. You will not be getting paid much, you will be getting lower than minimal per hour. 10$ per hair you style, 20$ for body. I hope that is okay. If not, we can negotiate.
With this bad news to say, you will not be able to stay with me in my car. There is not enough space for two people and loads of luggage. I have to bring a lot of equipment. Also, there is not enough space on the crew bus so you will be forced to bunk with the 5 Seconds of Summer boys. Sorry for the inconvenience and annoyance.
Please write back, or call the number I have given you. We will be meeting up in L.A. in 2 weeks. I apologize for the last minute hire. I hope you can make it.
Signed,
Lou Teasdale
