I write a little note in my book, telling Lou I'm going out, and I rip it out from the book she gave it and leave it on the TV.
I hurry of the room, my bag thrown over my shoulder. Its a lot less heavy than usually. Just a notebook, pen, money, my iPod and cell phone. I take out my iPod and shove both ear buds into my ear, listening to what last played. I hurry out of the building and begin walking down the street. I remember how to get to the main just from our trip to the mall.
Everyone is slowly opening their shop. I could wait a minute and buy coffee. I know it won't be the same as back home, but I'm open for new things. Clearly.
I make my way to the main road without getting lost. Brownie points for me. I walk into a quick store, bistro nonetheless. I buy a latte and carrot muffin. This is a lot better than cold pizza.
The street is surrounded with street performers, trying to make a living. Being in LA and trying to get a record deal must be pretty easy, compared to back home. Singers, dancers, begging for scraps of anything. I make my way up close to a girl setting up her dancing area. I smile and wave at her. I walk on over and hand her a ten dollar bill.
"Oh thanks!" She says, obviously from New York.
"No problem. Now, dance for me." I say to her. She just laughs and breaks out into a little dance. "That was great." I say to her.
"I'm Melodie. But everyone calls me Beat." She says to me.
"I'm Ryan." I say, offering her my hand. she takes it quickly.
"Pleasure to meet you. You look a tad dressed up for a stroll to see street performers." She says to me, rolling her sleeves.
"Oh. I have to look sum what professional, I mean, I am in training to be professional." I say to her, taking a sip of my drink.
"Oh? For what? Are you with anyone?" She asks me. "Op. Sorry. I didnt mean to get all up in your grill."
"Uh... well.." I slowly get closer to her, trying to whisper, but talk loud enough over the speeding cars near by. "I'm on tour with 5 Seconds of Summer."
"REALLY?! She squeals loudly, jumping up and down. "That's so cool!" She says. "I'm actually seeing them tonight!"
"Cool." I say, smiling. "So, I'll see you tonight?" I say, pushing a strand of hair behind my ear. "If you're lucky, anyways."
"Yes!" She just smiles and waves at people walking behind me.
"Have a good day. Maybe I'll come by and see you later on." I say to her, smiling.
"I like you, Ryan." She said, smiling to me.
"That's a shocker. Well, this will be the start of a beautiful friendship." I say, she just smiles some more. "How about at the last song, we meet up? I could introduce you to the boys.." I say, smiling.
"Sounds great!" She said, clapping and jumping. "Now go, I need to groove." She says, wiggling her hips.
***
Earlier, I managed to make my way back home. The whole day, Lou and I just sat around, preparing to go to the boys house, dye Michaels hair and then leave to go get ready for the concert.
I decide to keep my outfit on but bring a change of clothes for the concert. A tight, black dress. It has what seems like leather wrapped around it. It stopped just above my knees. Adorable. My ripped tights and spiked Jeffrey Campbell heals go well with it, too. I stuff this all into a like bag, not my usual one. I'll change in the washrooms after I dye Michael's hair.
"Ready?" Lou says, pointing at me. "You look nice, by the way. The boys will enjoy your batman shirt." She says to me, as I throw my backpack over my shoulder.
"Thank you." I say, smiling. "I'm ready." I head towards the door and pick up the grocery bag which has the dye kit in it.
I head out the door, trying to balance myself on my feet. There's a big breeze, for 5pm, and I try to hold down my skirt. This could get awkward, seeing my underwear have punk hello kitty on them. I chuckle at the though. I jump into Lou's car and once she turns it on, I blast the radio.
"I love this song!" We both start bobbing our head.
"Me too!" I exclaim.
We both dance subtly to the music being played on the radio. I have learnt to control myself. Well, around Lou anyways. She's like my new mom, and I can't lose her any time soon. I smile at her as she pulls into the long driveway, which leads up into the boys' house. Once pulled up, I leap out of the car holding the bag of dye close to me.
"This'll be fun!" I explain, laughing evilly. Lou just gives me a scared look, running up to the door.
"Just knock." Lou says, grabbing her own bags.
"Hello!!" I shout, knocking on the door.
A sleepy Calum comes up, just in his boxers. I laugh and walk passed him, coming in the house. I drop my dye kit bag on the ground near the entrance and peer into the living room. All the boys are sitting in the living room, in comfy clothes surrounding the TV.
"The party is here!" I say, throwing my arms in the air. They just grunt back.
"Are you ready, Michael?" Lou says to him, putting her purse on a shelf.
"As ready as I'll ever be." He says, getting up.
"Go put a scrap t-shirt on. In case there is any spills." I say to him, he sighs.
I set up the kit on the kitchen table, pulling out a chair for him. Lou goes and sits in the living room along with them. Michael comes out wearing a plain black T-shirt. He looks nice. It hugs his upset body just nicely.
"Sit." I say, pointing to the chair. He doe and points his head down.
"Don't fuck up." He says to me under his breath.
