Fred's POV
I storm up to my dorm where George is drawing something. "Hey Freddie." He says. Before he knows what's happening, I punch him in the jaw, sending him to the floor. "Why George?" I scream. "Bella has been in bed for a straight week! She won't get up! She won't talk or eat or anything, and it's all your fault!" I yell, punching him again. Breathing heavily, I sit on my bed. "How could you do that to her George? She just looked so broken, so empty." I say quietly. George, who's sitting on the floor, looks up at me. There's blood streaming from his nose. "I was protecting her!" He exclaims. "You ruined her!" I reply. "She's not the same! Who's been there since she started Hogwarts? Us. And now she's lost you. I just don't understand." I say before leaving the room.
The next day, we leave for the Christmas holidays. Bells and I sit in a compartment on the train. She seems to have cheered up a little. "You'll come over during holidays, won't you?" I ask. She nods. "Just because George and I have b-broken up doesn't mean I won't come and see you." She replies, stuttering a bit.
Halfway there, Malfoy comes onto the compartment. His face is blushed red, and he's holding a piece of parchment. "I heard about George." He says quietly. "So you've come to taunt me then?" Bells asks. "No, of course not. I wanted to apologize. I did what he did, and I know it's probably hurtful." He says. "I accept your apology." Bells smiles. Malfoy seems to be overtaken with relief. "Now that that's taken care of, the ball is coming up." He says. Bells grins for the first time in a while. "I'd love to come." She says. After Draco leaves, she groans. "I hate shopping!" She says.
Bella's POV
Fred goes with me to find a dress in Paris. It's my favorite place to shop, and now Fred can apperate us there. We spend hours upon hours looking, and in a small shop on a street corner, Fred pulls one off the shelf. I know instantly that this dress is perfect. I go to try it on, and it looks beautiful. It's just revealing enough. "There's a wizard cafe a few blocks from here. Fancy a butterbeer?" Fred asks. I nod. "Sure." I reply.
After drinking our butterbeers, Fred and I head on a walk around the beautiful city. "This place is so beautiful." I say. Fred hums in agreement. "Bells, listen. I need to tell you something." Fred says. "Of course." I reply. "You can always tell me anything." Before I know what's happening, Fred's lips are on mine. It's not the fast, needy kiss I got from George. This is a slow kiss that says more than words ever could. It's the kind of kiss that makes you dizzy. It's the kind of kiss that confuses me and I don't know why I'm kissing back but I am. He pulls back first, and I see in his eyes everything he was afraid to say. "Fred." I whisper. "I'm sorry." He replies. "Don't be. I know that in the past few weeks it's been different but I didn't know how. I don't know how I feel and I just want to go talk to my mum." I say. Fred nods, pulling me close. "Okay." He says before pulling me into the air.
The second the door closes, I scream and run to my bed. Mum appears shortly. "What's wrong?" She asks. "Fred kissed me and I don't know what to do!" I cry. She rubs my hair. "It's okay, Darling. Long ago, I was caught in between two brothers too." She says. I stare at her. My mum, who always had her life perfect? "Who?" I ask. "Regulus and Sirius." She replies. My mouth drops. "I loved them both, and lost them both for a long time. I was so confused." She says. "I feel awful Mum. George was just trying to protect me and I kissed Fred." I sob. "Regulus did the same thing Darling. If he leaves you, he can't expect you to wait forever." She says. "What do I do?" I ask. "That's your decision, and I'll support you no matter what." She says. I bury my face in my pillow and moan.
Dear Fred,
I'm sorry. If I hurt your feelings I didn't mean to. I'm still confused, but I know I have feelings for you and I liked it when you kissed me. If George dumped me, can he really expect me to wait for him forever? Give me a few days, okay? I'll let you know after the ball. It's all so confusing, but I'll work through it. I think I might like you too.
xoxo,
Bells.
