Siriusly McKinnon?
--------------------

Christmas. Sirius Black had always hated it. Everyone was always boasting about what they had done with their family and the amazing presents they had gotten. Sirius had never even decorated a tree. He was always stuck at his parents' stupid Christmas party, wearing stupid formal clothes. Then he had started a Hogwarts. Then he had made friends.
First year was the first Christmas Sirius actually enjoyed. He had three amazing friends who actually liked him. He had James, Remus, and Peter. He had given them presents and actually gotten some! He had found decorating the tree in the common room amazing. There was something....magical about creating something purely from imagination.
Four years had passed since that amazing first Christmas. Not much had changed at all. James still talked about Lily constantly, Remus still loved books and sweaters, everyone still gave Peter candy every year, and Sirius' family still hated him. For Sirius Black, everything was great. He could have any girl he wanted, he was popular, and his friends had never left him.
After everyone had left for the holidays, James started planning to make Lily fall in love with him. "Prongs, Mate," Sirius began. "After five years, I'm not sure how great this plan will work." James rolled his eyes. "Why do you doubt me Padfoot? My plan to get Lily-Flower is foolproof." He said. "We'll find out." Sirius said. Remus laughed from his bed, snacking on a piece of chocolate.
That evening, James' plan was put into action. "Lily?" Sirius called from a table in the corner of the Gryffindor common room.  "Would you please help me with this divination question?" Lily rolled her eyes but walked over anyway. "Honestly, Sirius. I don't even understand why you're taking an idiotic class like this." She sighed.
She looked at the ridiculous question Sirius had made up. The poor girl was so confused she didn't even see James come up behind her, holding a plant in his hand. He tapped her on the shoulder, and when she turned around, he kissed her full on the lips. "What the heck, Potter?!" She sputtered, pulling away. James smirked and looked up. "Mistletoe." He winked. Lily made a noise of anger and stormed away. Sirius was dying of laughter, and even Remus was trying to conceal his amusement on the couch. Not five minutes later, Marlene McKinnon stormed down the stairs. "Black." She said icily. "Outside. Now."
Sirius didn't appreciate being bossed around, but he was a smart boy, so he quickly followed her outside. "If you wanted to snog me McKinnon, then the common room would've worked." Sirius said. "That plan was so idiotic!" Marlene snapped. "How do you expect to get James and Lily together like that?" Sirius stared, surprised. "You want them together?" He asked. "Of course I do! They were meant to be!" She replied. Sirius smirked. "Well you can help me with the plan." He said. "I'm writing an essay right now. How about the kitchens tomorrow night?" She asked. Sirius nodded. "Okay. See you then."
The next night, Sirius went to the kitchen. Marlene was waiting. "Okay McKinnon, let's get this plan figured out." Sirius said. "One thing first." Marlene said. Sirius looked at her expectantly. "Look up." Sirius looked up to see a mistletoe plant floating above him. Next thing he knew, Marlene was kissing him and he was kissing back. Her lips were soft, and she tasted like strawberries. This kiss wasn't like other kisses he had. This was innocent and sweet. After a moment she pulled away. "What about Lily and James?" Sirius asked. "They'll figure it out." Marlene replied, pulling him closer again.
That night, Sirius had been filled with warmth. Sirius would give anything to be back at Hogwarts, reliving that night. Now he sat in his cell in Azkaban, watching snow float around outside. "Marlene." He whispered. He had been accused of murder of James and Lily, and by extension, Marlene. Her name hurt. When she had been killed, he had been broken. For months, he had kept the ring in his pocket. The engagement ring that was supposed to be her Christmas present. The only thing keeping him going now was revenge and hope that he could one day see Harry. "Happy Anniversary." He whispered to the air.
