It's not long later when my door opens and a sobbing Ginny rushes in. "Dean's dumped me!" She cries. "Well your brother and I are taking some time apart," I inform her. She comes over and lies down on my bed. "I love him," she whispers. I hug her. "I know Ginny, I know exactly how you feel."
Ginny and I begin to sob together, crying our eyes out. "George and I fight a lot and he just gave up! He can't take a break from me if we get married!" I exclaim. "Dean said that we argue too much," Ginny says sadly. Both of us exhausted by our hearts, we curl up into each other and cry ourselves to sleep.
I wake up a bit later when I hear my door creak open. I reflexively grab my wand and point it at the door. "It's just me," a voice says. I put my wand down and cross my arms. "What is it?" I ask George. He sighs and runs his hand through his hair. "I was just checking on you," He says. I scowl at him. "Well stop it."
"You wanted to take a break so let's take one," I say. Sighing , he leans against the doorframe. "I just wanted to make sure you're okay." Hoping he can't see my tear-stained face and swollen eyes, I try to make my voice strong. "I'm fine George." He nods his head before stepping out.
We're soon back to school and I feel pretty lonely except for Ginny. Harry is always off with Dumbledore, Ron and Hermione are together, and Draco still thinks it's safer to stay away from me. I keep his gloves and I pull them out from time to time, wondering if I'll ever get my cousin back.
Exams pass by and soon it's the end of June. The end of year feast is tomorrow night and then we'll go home. George and I exchange owls occasionally but we're still on break. I just feel broken up with. Harry and Ginny are together though. It happened one night after a quidditch game.
I wait for Harry to come back from Dumbledore's office on night but it doesn't happen. After a few hours I decide to go check on him. I hum to myself as I head to Dumbledore's office. "Jelly slugs?" I try to guess the password.
"Bertie Bott's?"
"Blood pops?"
"Fizzing whizbee?"
"Sherbet lemon?"
On the last one, the entrance is revealed. I head into Dumbledore's office and hear a laugh that makes my blood run cold. I draw my wand and take a quiet step in. In Dumbledore's office stands a group of death eaters including Draco and Bellatrix!
Blood pounds in my ears as I see Draco's wand pointed at Dumbledore. I pull my wand up and think of a spell to shoot. When I look up, Dumbledore locks eyes with me and shakes his head gently. Looking around, I see a staircase to my left and duck down it. A hand grabs my arm and I whip around to see Harry.
I hug him tightly before looking up to see what's going on. Sev walks swiftly up to the death eaters. He's going to make everything alright! Then he kills my headmaster. My jaw drops in shock and Harry starts running after the death eaters. He gets farther than I do though and I'm stuck in a corridor fighting off two death eaters.
Suddenly order members are running around and my parents find me. They immediately take over the fight and I duck into an alcove where I can shoot spells if need be. My parents are winning against the death eaters and everything is good until the one my father is dueling sends a killing curse at him while he's glancing at Mum.
I scream but I know I can't get to him. My mum shoves him out of the way and I breathe a sigh of relief. Then the killing curse hits her. I scream again and run out of my hiding spot and to my mother. Before I can get there though, someone catches me around my waist from me behind.
"Let me go!" I sob. "Shh. Bells it's alright," George says. I stop fighting and just sob. The death eaters have already left this floor and I look up again to see my father sobbing over my mother's body. "I was supposed to die, not you!" He screams.
I turn around and bury my face in George's chest. He holds me tightly and I think I feel a few tears hit the top of my head. "Why did she die?" I whisper. "I don't know Bells. I really don't." My father seems to finally notice we're there. He wipes his eyes and stands up.
"George, get Anna out of here please. She doesn't need to see this. Someone find Harry!" I say nothing while George takes my hand and pulls me over to the stairs. When I look back, my father has collapsed again.
My legs are like jelly so George picks me up and carries my bridal style. I bury my head in his neck and wish I could hide from the world. I hear Fred shouting a greeting but he stops abruptly when he sees me.
"Where's Harry?" I ask Fred when I'm on the ground again. "He's with Dumbledore's body. A lot of people are." Without another word, I sprint to the bottom of the astronomy tower. Harry stands closest to Dumbledore and I hold his hand. He glances at me and sees my face.
"What is it Bell?" He asks me. I sniffle. "Mum is gone Harry." His knees buckle beneath him and he falls. I fall along with him and we hold each other while we cry. It's a terrible feeling, losing your Mum. She's been there my entire life and now she's gone.
When we go back inside various order members are standing around. I see Remus first, who has tears running down his cheeks. I hug him tightly and he hugs me back. I can truly say this is the worst night of my life.
The funeral is bleak. My mother looks beautiful as always in a red dress that I'd never seen her wear. Words are said but they mean nothing. Nothing matters except that my mum is gone.
We go back to living in our old house. I don't think anybody in our house leaves their bed for a week. Molly pops by and cooks every day but nobody eats. The twins come by and try to coax me to get up but I ignore them. Ron tries to get Harry to come out of his room but he's locked the door. Even Remus comes by to try and get us all up. He comes into my room one evening and kneels by my bed.
"Bella, do you remember that time I wouldn't leave my chair and you came by and screamed and yelled at me?" I nod slightly. "I can't do that to you. Please don't do this to us though. At least get up and take a shower. Don't waste your life like this."
I don't answer and Remus walks down the hallway to Harry's room. I listen to Remus and walk into my bathroom. I start the shower and put it as hot as it will go. I take my shower, brush my hair and teeth, and put on clean pajamas before laying back down. When Remus passes my room again I notice he's smiling.
George comes the next night with some dinner but I just scoot over so he can lay with me. He says nothing, just slips under the covers after taking his shoes off. I lay my head on his chest and he wraps his arms around me gently.
"Talk to me Bells. Let me hear your voice." I'm silent still. I don't know what to say. "I can't bear you just lying here." I nuzzle my head into Georgie's chest. "Do we still have to be on break?" I ask. "No Bells. Never again," he laughs.
