"Ellie!" Shawn comes running towards me the next day. "Quick! I need you to help me with something!" He takes my books from me and puts them in my locker before grabbing my hand and running down the corridor.

"Woah! Slow down!" I laugh. Some of the students give me dirty looks, although I'm not sure if it's because I am with Shawn or because I'm getting in their way. "What do you need help with?"

"I need you to learn this song by lunch time,"he says as we enter the music room. "Here is the music sheet for the piece and here's a keyboard." Shawn guides me to the closest keyboard and hands me a piece of paper.

"When did you write this?" I ask.

"A few nights ago, but I only came up with the music for the keyboard last night. It's not very good because my skills aren't as advanced as yours. But you can adjust a few things here and there," Shawn runs his hand through his hair. "Um, I've got gym now. You don't mind using your free period to do this right?"

"Ah- no. I-"

"Great! You're amazing! I'll see you in an hour for music!" He runs out the door and leaves me alone sitting there rather confused.

"Oh!" Miss Carlton says as she walks into the room. "I didn't know you were spending your free period in here."

"Neither did I, Miss," I sigh, moving my brown hair over my shoulder. "Shawn wants me to learn this by lunch."

"Well you're more than welcome to spend the next two periods learning it," she smiles, moving over towards her desk. "Also, you have a drum lesson after school.

"Thanks," I smile, putting my headphones on. With that, I begin to learn the piece.

Shawn was right about it being easy. I am able to play it without the music sheet by the time Shawn comes back. "I've made a couple of changes here and here," I say, pointing to the places where I added things in. "I think that it will enhance the piece. Is that okay?"

"Sure," Shawn smiles at me. "Let's go find a practice room and I'll show you how I want it to go with the guitar." He grabs his guitar and we go into the closest practice room.

"What are the lyrics for the song anyway?" I ask, sitting in front of the keyboard.

"You'll find out at lunch," he smiles as he tunes his guitar. "You ready to play the piece?"

"Yeah."

"Let's hope this goes well."

"You failed to mention that we were performing this in front of the ENTIRE SCHOOL!" I whisper/yell at Shawn. We were at the front of the cafeteria, an entire stage set up for us to perform his song- the song which I didn't even know the words to or what it's intended purpose is.

"Relax, Ellie," Shawn laughs. "It's just in front of the school. It's not like we are performing for the Queen," he smiles and waves at Jessica in the distance.

"Sure does seem so with her here," I whisper to myself.

"You ready?" Shawn asks, picking up his guitar. I sigh and go to the keyboard.

Every time Shawn sings I am in awe. The amount of talent he has is unreal! I am so proud of him and as I spot Rose and Jeremy at our usual table I could see that they felt the same way.

The only problem is that I'm in love with Shawn, and the song isn't about me.

When the song ends we (Shawn) are met with a loud applause. I quickly make my way off stage and over to our table while Shawn stays. "Can I have everyone's attention please!" He yells and the students are silent. "I wrote this song for Jessica Green. Would you like to come up here, Jess?" Everyone begins to cheer again as Jessica makes her way on stage, definitely not afraid of the spotlight. "I was wondering if you would please be my girlfriend?"

"Yes," she smiles brightly at him. I look away, ignoring the volume of the crowd.

"What an idiot," Jeremy says through a mouthful of his sandwich. "Getting in a relationship this young. Being 16 is all about-"

"Oh shut up, Jeremy. Be happy for the boy!" Rose rolls her eyes.

"It's hard to be happy for him when he's dating trash like that," I say without thinking. Rose and Jeremy look at me in shock. "Shit, I did not mean to say that."

"Well, you are right," Jeremy laughs.

"You are," Rose whispers. "But let's keep this between us. Right, Jeremy?" She gives him a stern look.

"Urg, fine," he rolls his eyes. "Bet she'll cheat on him in a months time..."
