"Did you see her new cover?"

"I can't believe she doesn't show her face!"

"Her voice is amazing!"

"I want to know who RealMe is!"

Smugly, I walk down the hallway to my locker. Little do they know, RealMe is so close to them right at this very moment.

Maybe they'd think twice next time they shoved me into the lockers.

This probably doesn't make much sense. RealMe is my online name, an alternative to Ellie Harper. Ironically, no one knows who RealMe is, not even my three best friends. I want to keep it that way.

"What are you smiling at, freak?" Some guy says and pushes me into the lockers, sending my text books flying. Here we go again. I bend over and start collecting my books up. Jeremy walks through the front doors of the school.

"Tripped again?" He asks, helping me collect my books. If only he had arrived a few moments earlier. I shrug. "You really need to learn to control your feet."

"I could say the same to you about your dick." I mutter as I straighten my glasses, causing him to laugh.

"Ahh, Ellie. I sure have missed you." He throws his arm over my shoulder and we make our way to my locker.

"Well if you turned up to school at all last week then you wouldn't have had to miss me." I smirk, pushing his arm off of me as we reach my locker.

"Not all of us care about getting an education." He crosses his arms and leans up against the locker next to mine.

"You used to," Rose joins us. "You used to be the top of class in freshman year."

"But then I grew up." Jeremy says 'matter-of-factly'.

"If you say so." Rose rolls her eyes, entering the code for her locker which was directly next to mine.

"We'll I'll see you ladies at lunch. Have fun in whatever classes you have." Jeremy pats the top of each of our heads, Rose swatting him in the process to protect her perfect braid. She turns to me as I close my locker.

"Urg, Ellie! Have you already tripped over today? Your sleeves are filthy!" She tuts. I look at the sleeves of my oversized black jumper. Sure enough they had picked up dirt from the floor when I had to pick up my dropped books.

"Yeah," is all I say. I try to wipe them off on my jeans but it has little effect. "What do you have first?"

"Fashion. How about you?"

"Music, with the one and only." I jump at the sound of Shawn's voice behind me. I turn to see him smiling down at me and my heart skips a beat.

"Stupid!" I say to myself in my head. "He's your best friend! Stop feeling like this!"

"Yeah." I manage to say. "Music."

"Well, let's go then! See ya Rose!" Shawn grabs my arm to get me to walk with him to class.

"How was your weekend?" I ask. Shawn dives in to his highly detailed weekend, but I can't focus on what he's saying as I look around at the people watching.

I never used to have any attention. But now that Shawn is famous, everyone stares. I hear them whisper why he still hangs out with me. To be fair I even wonder that myself nowadays...

"Ellie? Did you here me?" Shawn asks and I'm snapped back into reality.

"I'm sorry, what was that?"

"I said I think I might ask her out today!" He says cheerfully as we enter class five minutes early. I nod. I didn't even have to ask who he was talking about.

Jessica Green. The girl he's been talking about for weeks. They've hung out, but it's very casual as I have overheard from her friends and herself, right before they commented on how 'ugly' my new glasses are...

"Should I ask her, Ellie?" Shawn asks, bringing my attention back to him again. He sits at our desk and pulls me down to sit next to him. My heart aches as he speaks. "She's really pretty, but she keeps saying that she wants to make sure that the time is right."

"You'll know when the time is right, Shawn." I force a smile. Even though I may be in love with the boy, he's still my best friend. The bell rings and the last few people enter the class for the lesson. It was a free music lesson, which meant Shawn played around on his guitar and sang while I gave him feedback and listened.

"Sing for me, Ellie." He says.

"You know I don't like to sing." I lie. It was the truth for him though, everyone believed I hated singing. I just don't sing to anyone, they'd easily be able to figure out that I'm RealMe from YouTube.

"Oh come one! You always used to sing when we were kids! Why does being a teenager have to stop you?"

"Drop it, Shawn. I grew up." I use the same line as Jeremy used earlier. "Now, I'm going to go practice my keyboard playing. You all good on your own?" I ask and Shawn nods. I stand up and wonder off to the keyboard at the back of the room, sitting down and putting the headphones on. Flicking through the book, I open it on a random page. Of course, it lands on A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. I had played this a thousand times -no pun intended- that I didn't need the music to go off. I play it without much thought.

I love music. When the world is attempting to destroy me, music keeps me alive. It understands me. I believe it's the only thing that truely does nowadays.

Music is my escape.

The school day drags on as usual with myself having to endure the constant bullying I always receive for being myself. When I get home I can be who I truly am without the fear of a negative outcome.

I set up my camera to record a new video.
