It was as if the world hated me. As soon as I tell people (two million to be exact) that I am bullied it gets worse.

It's not like the people at school knew that the person they bullied was the female internet sensation that they can't stop talking about. And if they did I wonder if they'd think twice...

I bang on the glass door once again from the outside, standing in the pouring rain. The weather was on the edge of autumn and winter, so the weather was cold but not enough for snow. At least I have some luck! Due to this weather, students are supposed to remain inside and they lock all the doors. It just so happens that some boys thought it would be funny to drag me outside and lock the door behind me. So, here I am: cold, soaked, and locked out. The glass was so fogged up from the inside that no one who could potentially let me in would see me.

I've never spoken back to my bullies. I've always just taken it or found my way around it. Like with the girls who said I wouldn't be able to sing, I went and sung privately to the internet and ended up unknowingly becoming their favourite cover artist. Taking a deep breath, I start to yell for the first time since starting high school.

"Let me IN!" Laughter echoes from inside. "LET ME IN!" I yell louder, my own voice surprising me. "LET ME IN YOU BASTARDS! I COULD DIE OUT HERE!" I can feel the anger building up. Just as I take a deep breath to yell again and raised my hand to bang on the glass, I hear the lock move. The door swings open and Shawn looks at me. I give him no thought as I march past to the boys who locked me out. "Fuck you!" I curse in their faces and raise both my middle fingers before backing away and leaving the cafeteria.

"Ellie!" I hear Shawn yell, coming up behind me as I leave the room, bag and guitar in hand. "What the hell was that?"

"What did it look like?! Those assholes that you socialise with thought it would be funny to lock me outside!"

"Those guys locked you out?"

"Yes! Why else would I have yelled at them?!" I stop walking and turn to face him.

"Why?" Shawn scratches the back of his neck.

"How the hell should I know?" I sigh. "Look, I'm about to freeze and I really don't feel like talking. So unless you're going to take me home then you can run back to your little friends and I'll be on my way," I turn to go to reception and Shawn grabs my arm.

"Come on," he says, frowning. Shawn leads me to his car, walking right past reception. I say nothing as he drives to our houses. Annoyed with his gruffness, I get out of the car as soon as it stops and walk straight to my house with Shawn following.
"Stay here," I say to him as we enter the living room. "I'm going to have a shower."

"Can't I chill in your room?"

"You know the rule. No boys aloud in my room," I say this as my room is where I record my covers and he'd recognise the background from RealMe's videos. He, Jeremy, and Rose all believe that my parents had come up with this rule when we had become teenagers. And because we used to hang out mostly as a four we'd find alternatives that weren't my room so we could all hang out together.

"Your parents aren't even home," Shawn argues.

"And I don't want to risk getting in trouble if they come home early. Stay," I run up the stairs to the bathroom to shower and get out of my wet clothes. This takes a matter of minutes and then I'm back downstairs in a fresh dry set of clothes: sweatpants and a singlet, both grey. "Oh!" I say in mock surprise at Shawn still sat on my couch. "You're still here!"

"Haha," Shawn rolls his eyes. "Why are you like this?"

"Like what?"

"Why are you so hostile towards me now?"

"Why are YOU so distant nowadays?"

"What?" He asks and I sigh, falling on the couch next to him.

"When was the last time we hung out?" I turn to him. Shawn stays silent and looks up at the ceiling.

"Right now," he looks at me matter-of-factly. I scoff and roll my eyes at him. "Okay, I'm not sure."

"The last time we hung out was when you helped me after my lunch was tipped on me. And the last time we hung out with Jeremy and Rose I can't even remember! I haven't even seen them in ages..."

"I'm sorry," Shawn falls into my side. "Things have just been so hectic recently. Things will settle down briefly."

"I hope so," I rest my head on his.

"You know you're my best friend, right? Amongst all this crazy, I could never forget about you."

"Yeah," I sigh. I'm his best friend, and he's my everything.
