Between work and school, Teru was a wreck. She couldn't even stay awake most of the time, couldn't laugh at anime or memes, couldn't eat without throwing it back up most of the time, and looked awful with messy hair, bloodshot eyes, paler-than-normal skin, and dark, dark bags under her eyes.
She now stared up at the flat screen tv above her desk and laptop, waiting for those words to appear.
FIREWALL
I'm sorry it had to be this way.

"I am, too."
FIREWALL
You could just stop, you know. Come home, be happy.
... (those numbers)
"Aren't you supposed to be on vacation in Africa or something? It's not like I'll probably hack your stuff while you're gone, even without your commentary."
FIREWALL
I'm on a business trip. You know that, Teru. Besides, Daddy wants to talk to you.
...
"You're weird, and I have no need to talk to you. And a 'business trip.' Definitely."
You're mad.
"How could I not be, Dad?"
...
"Although, if you don't want to die when you get back, I suggest you give me goddamn something to give them."
In front of her face was written the bitchiest move of her life.
I love you, sweetheart written on the document she'd been hacking for three days, or technically 73.25967...8 hours straight. Without sleep.
She slammed the computer shut, chucking it carelessly across the room and into a pillow that had been duck-taped there, which it bounced off of and onto a beanbag on the floor. She growled, standing up to punch a wall.
"Goddamn it, I hate you, dad!" She fell to her knees there, clutching her arms with razor-like nails from nervous biting.
What she didn't notice was how a separate computer powered on, and a line of 1's and 0's appeared before a document of plans. And how, in the corner of the flatscreen, two sentences appeared in a miniscule font only she would take the time to notice.
I'm sorry, and I really do love you, Yoshiteru.
