Akira sat at her bedside, yet was unable to face her peaceful face, looking out the window instead. Takuma sat across from him, staring to get his attention. Akira couldn't face the truth.

"Akira, when you took this job, you knew it wouldn't just be laid back. You didn't just come to watch over Teru. You came to be a bodyguard. You came to keep her work safe, and that just happened to include her. But that also meant keeping her from fighting him."

Akira closed his eyes, willing the tears away and wishing he could speak without them falling. His throat felt swollen, and he could barely swallow, let alone choke out all the words he needed to say.

He was just a child himself. He wasn't up for this work. No, he couldn't think that. That wasn't fair to Teru, who lost her sanity, yet had stayed devoted to the job she'd done for seven years.

"Please," he choked out, a tear falling from his eye, following another. "Please do-on't make me... le-eave her..."

Takuma held sympathy in his eyes. "I'm sorry, Akira, but you either leave her, or you're both gone."
