That day at school had been dizzily thrilling, and she was pretty sure most of her teachers thought she was a drug addict because of how sleepy she was. Although, walking into the host club with Akira right then took the cake. Teru was surprised to find a man she didn't quite expect to see any time soon.
Him.
She slunk back quickly behind Akira, who pulled her into a side hug, staring at the man even he could recognise.
The twins walked up, pulling the quiet man with them. "Hey Teru-san, Akira-san-" "Meet our dad." "He's back from his business trip early-" "and came to visit us."
The man smiled nervously at Teru, but smiled nonetheless. "Ah, you must be the other pair of twins. I am Hitachiin-san (don't know his name)."
Akira scowled at him, but spoke back none the less. "Kita Akira and Teru."
Teru was too tired to function properly past hiding. She wasn't entirely sure that words would come out of her mouth if she opened it, and she was smiling lazily, leaning against Akira's shoulder and arm almost completely.
Kyoya somehow noticed this, and spoke up. "Teru-san, you should come over to a couch and rest. You look ill."
Always the medic.
"Hah, Kyoya-saaa... Hahah, okay..." Smiling wider, Teru dizzily walked over to a couch, almost collapsing on her way if it wasn't for Tamaki.
"Woah there, Teru-chan. Here." He gently laid her down, and Hunny and Mori suddenly appeared with a blanket and pillow.
"Teru-san, you show symptoms of insomnia," said Kyoya, leaning closer to speak his next sentence. "It would be helpful to see your files right about now~." Teru growled slightly.
"Shu-ut up, Kyoya. I don have insomniaa," she mumbled. "Ask Hitachiin-san. We have... similar jobs."
He walked up behind them all. "It's true, I'm afraid. Any amateur in the computer business is sure to be found in this state after one too many all-nighters.
"What did you just call me?" Teru growled at him, sitting up quickly and shakily standing up. "I'll have you know I'm more than an amateur." She leaned up close to him, grabbing his collar. "And you would know, damn it." She brought her fist up to punch him, but Akira grabbed her and pulled her back to the couch, desperately whispering.
"Teru, you know you can't. If you get caught doing that you could be-we both could be fired for your incompetent actions, and he could..."
She suddenly screamed shrilly, adding to the silent chaos of the room. "I know, Akira! Stop, stop, stop! I know!" she yelled, covering her eyes as tears fell. "I know..."
Akira backed away, falling on his butt as a few of the hosts gathered round to comfort her, and Haruhi appeared with chamomile tea. Akira and Hitachiin-san matched eyes then, and one's were tear filled, and the other's were blazing with an inward fury.
Hitachiin-san moved to leave the room, whispering to Akira. "Tell her I'm sorry."
Teru was led into another room by Kyoya to sleep, a warm mug of tea heating her icy hands as he gave her some pills to help her calm and sleep, smile completely gone for the first time since her last year of college.
Not everything is as it always appears.
