Chapter Thirty-Three

She stepped off the train, her messenger bag over her shoulder and chest. She clutched the strap, looking, looking. God, she couldn't help but worry. She was alone in a new country, one that she couldn't navigate, one where she wasn't 100% fluent in the language, waiting for someone that might not even come. She had every right.

As her eyes scanned through the crowd, her heart beginning to race from worry, she fought in her mind for self-control. She couldn't break down there. She wouldn't, not after getting better. She just had to focus on finding him, or a taxi, or both.

Remember, she thought, I don't have to get a job, or wait for him. If I don't find him, then he knows my apartment's address, and besides, we're both pretty tall, so he should find me first. I've still got dyed hair, so it should be easier, too.

She suddenly ran into someone, and she whispered a crude, quiet "sorry." However, her eyes widened at the sight of his shoes. She knew those shoes.

As she looked up to meet his wonderful, deep, beautiful eyes, a smile crept onto his face, and he spoke. "Teru, did you really think I'd let you go alone?" Her lips spread into a large, tight smile, even as tears sprung, and she leapt forward to hug him. He caught her, holding her close.

"Teru, you don't have to smile; I know you're mad. Besides, I'll always see the story behind yours." She set her head on his shoulder, smile dropping as she whimpered. "I'm sorry..."

"No, I'm sorry that I was so naive. You warned me..."

"Because I love you."

"I... I think I might love you, too."
