You were walking around the fairy tail guild wondering if you should go on a mission without your friends or not. Mira had convinced you to wait but you had a very antsy feeling. Going on a mission always gave you and adrenaline rush and that's just what you wanted. Yeah, you're an adrenaline junkie.
You glanced up and down the mission board.
Mira chimed in "Don't forget the last time you went on a mission by yourself, (y/n). You came back so bad you were in the infirmary for 2 weeks. I remember even seeing a worried look on Gray's face. Come to think of it didn't you say he was the cutest guy in fairy tail?"
Your eyes almost popped out of your head. You whispered "Don't even think about telling him I said that. He only thinks of me as a friend anyway I'm not gonna ruin our friendship!"
Mira just chuckled at your actions.
"Besides I know I'm accident prone... I just like to go on missions it's worth getting bloodied up sometimes. Last time all I did was run and trip over a rock... which unfortunately gave me 3 broken bones but THAT WON'T BRING ME DOWN."
You started to hear the doors of the guild open and close. Natsu and the gang walked in with their smiling faces.
You started to look at the missions again looking for something you could do by yourself. You then felt a hand on your shoulder and immediately spun around.
Gray stood there with no shirt on and gave started to give you a lecture on why you couldn't go on missions alone. You huffed and Natsu came over to stick up for you.
"HEY ICE PRINCESS leave (y/n) alone! She can go on a mission if she wants!"
"REALLY FLAME BRAIN! SHE COULD GET SERIOUSLY HURT AGAIN!"
Natsu came back with "WELL IF YOU CARE ABOUT HER SO MUCH WHY DON'T YOU JUST ASK HER OUT ALREADY!"
Everything went silent in the guild. Gray gave Natsu a look and walked right passed you towards the door. You yelled after Gray but he never looked back.
That made you frustrated that he wouldn't answer you. So frustrated in fact that you found a mission fast and left.
It took you about 3 months to finish the mission and to your surprise you never got a scratch on you. You were so excited to go back to show everyone. You even forgot about the Gray incident.
GRAY POV*
I can't believe Natsu made a big scene back at the guild. I'm so embarrassed I can't even talk to (y/n). The only reason why I hadn't asked her out was because she would reject me and then or friendship would be awkward.
That day she came back from the mission by herself all beaten up I felt my heart ache. Ever since then I told myself I would make sure that she was safe and Natsu had to jump in and make everything worse.
(Y/n) is so beautiful and I don't know how to tell her. I just want to hold her in my arms but I know that would never happen. I can't help but think about how stubborn she is all the time and how much sass she brings to the group and the loyalness she has to her friends. I know she must have noticed when the first time we shook hands a spark went through our hands and I have yet to find out what that feeling was. I just know she is one special person I can't lose, I won't lose.
I have to go after her...
NORMAL POV*
You were almost back to the guild.
At the doors you drew in a big breath and pushed the door.....
Little did you know Gray was pushing the door at the same time. You both flew back onto the ground. You had a huge bruise start to form on your face and Gray had a broken nose.
He pushed the door a little to let you in. Both of you looked like you got into an intense battle.
Mira laughed echoed through the guild "So I see you came back with all your bones in good shape except you run into the guild door! And Gray decided to help you out with the accident proneness. You two are a perfect match!"
She gave you a wink and a thumbs up. You laughed a little and rolled your eyes. Gray couldn't help but chuckle at your side.
You took him to clean up his face and as you were cleaning the dried blood off. You couldn't help but to question why he kept staring.
Gray smirked and said "You don't realize it do you?" You shook your head. "You are the most beautiful girl I have ever met even when you look like you got in a fight with a big guy. I would run into so many doors if I knew you were going to clean me up afterwords. I really don't want to ruin our friendship but I want to be more than friends. I want to be able to hold you in my arms always."
You didn't realize it but a tear rolled down your face and you laughed while wiping it off. "Gray that is the cheesiest but sweetest thing I've ever heard."
"(Y/n) do you maybe want to go out sometime?"
"Seriously is that even a question at this point, yes a million times yes."
"Good, now this means you can't go on missions without me now!"
You grunted "fine, you weirdo."
And you both laughed.
