Company 8 had been talked about all through the other companies especially a certain pyrokinetic boy.
You resided with company 7 in Asakusa and had only recently met company 8 as they had just invited themselves to investigate. You knew Waka was not happy about the predicament displayed in front of him, nor was he wanting to engage with Shinra when challenged. You on the other hand were very excited to meet the crew but on the other hand you let your nerves get the best of you and simply hid behind Konro.
As Captain Beni took to the streets to put out the infernal you knew it was time to get everything to start to repair buildings. You grew up in Asakusa and still never understood why they insisted on going all out for someone consumed by flames. You saw the boy from earlier pick up the friendly old lady and fly to the roof tops using his feet. You admired how well he could use his flame, you were still having difficulty being a 3rd generation. Konro tried to help you many times but you just couldn't get the hang of it so they asked you to do meaningless chores instead saying it would help you find a technique.
As you start to gather materials, you notice the members of company 8 begin to help. You started to devise a plan to get Shinra alone to ask about his feet. You decided to climb up onto one of the rooftops and meet him there.
You see him make his way to the roof that you were on, with the lumber. When you two made eye contact he seemed shocked. "What? Never see a girl put a roof back together?" you tried to say with as much courage as you could muster. He regained himself "It's just that I thought I saw you on the ground just a second ago."
You felt your nerves start up and shook your head "Psh, were you watching me or something?"
Shinra's face began to break out into a huge smile. You began to give him a weird look since he just stared and smiled without continuing the conversation. He took notice of your odd behavior. "Sorry, I tend to smile when I get nervous. Here, let me help you with those boards."
The conversations continued as he helped with the roof. You began to ask him about his pyrokinesis and asked for tips on how to harness the strength. You felt so at home with him even sharing your insecurities about not handling your 3rd gen powers. Shinra seemed to know every word you needed to hear. Konro voiced a few times that he had also said these exact things to you. With a sigh and a shake of his head he let you listen to the boy knowing the feelings you had.
The goodbyes had to be said once the mission was complete and your captain had almost taken all of them out because of the white clads. As the captains shared drinks you caught the eye of the shark toothed boy. You made your way over to him, "So I guess we won't be seeing you guys much after this... but, I--"
You felt a warm pair of lips on your cheek but as soon as you felt the tingling in your toes the warmth had left. Shinra smiled at you in his creepy way, "Don't stop trying to get better. I know you can figure it out just trust in yourself. Maybe we could fight the next time."
"I'll be waiting, Shinra." You and the rest of 7 waved your goodbyes and headed back inside but not before your captain stopped you. "You're not gonna get all lovey dovey every time they show up are you? Actually, don't answer that it's too annoying just keep it to yourself."
You giggled "Will do, Sir"
