Chapter 14: "But I'll keep the pasta."
So Key was really cute and was fascinated by that. Because if he had been ugly, he could have blamed Tris for anything, but of course he could not. I looked at Jake who looked just as annoyed as I did and when he felt my look he made a "sorry" with his lips. I nodded and turned my gaze to Tris who spoke animatedly to Key.
Stupid Tris.
She was beginning to believe that instead of a friend, she was an enemy.
Well, I was probably overreacting. But it did not matter. I did not want to meet guys. I had met boys. I had already met a boy. And it did not leave my head for a second, and more when I was missing.
Apparently, Tris felt my eyes glitter, because she turned her eyes from Key to me as she laughed. I shook my head, showing him how much he disapproved of what he had done, and his smile faded.
"And why did you come to Oak Minds?" He knew that even Key had noticed the tense moment and had asked that to save the whole ass of the restaurant because most likely that with the fury he had for Tris to do this, he grabbed her by the hair at any time.
"It's a long story ... But mostly they transferred our parents to a company that was closer to here than to California. So here we are ... "Tris smiled sadly and knew he did not like lying about our story in front of Jake, who was still being honest with us. I did not like it either, but there was no other choice.
"How about the Kels school?" I turned my head to Key. She was staring at me and had that typical smile she was used to seeing in Jake, but not in him.
"Well, I suppose." She knew she was being a total bitch and she had to be courteous because she was being damned well with me. But I could not help feeling angry and frustrated at everything Tris had done.
Maybe she exaggerated, but she knew how much she hated me for dating. And she knew she was not interested in anyone. And I knew that every time I did that, it made me feel like a stupid, needy spinster, and I was sure that the guy I was meeting with thought she was so in need that I thought she could sleep with me, that easy.
Okay, Key did not look like "Don Juan" but I did.
"I think I need to go to the bathroom." Kels, will you join me? His teeth were tight and his gaze was very deliberate, he knew what he meant.
"Go to the bathroom. NOW."
No thanks, I'm fine." I smiled as fake as I could and she giggled.
"Kelsey, I need you in the bathroom, it's an emergency.
"I do not think it's anything that you can not solve by yourself, Tris." She kicked me under the table and made a small gasp. Note that Key concealed his laughter and Jake glared at Tris.
-Bath. Now. At last he said the words that were in his mind and he stopped without saying anything else, I did the same. I wanted to yell at him a couple of things that were not his to hear the whole restaurant.
Walk behind her but a few paces away.
"Can you tell me what your fucking problem is?" I closed the bathroom door and turned to Tris who was very angry and frowning.
"Are you serious?" I frowned more, and she folded her arms indignantly.
Really, Tris? Will you do this now?
"Yes, he's serious." I opened my eyes in disbelief. I can not believe it-. Well, yes, I set you up blindly. And that? The boy is cute and very nice and to top it all, he is Jake's brother. We have fantasized from small with this, Kels, do not ruin it.
-Screw it up? I ruin it? -She nodded her head-. The only one that's ruining everything here, it's you. You know I hate that you fix me appointments. You know I can find my own kids. You know I look like an idiot and needy child now, Tris. Yes, maybe Key is nice and cute, but now I just lost all the desire to meet him because of you. I do not need a Tris boy. I'm fine. "I took a deep breath and stared at her. She turned her eyes to the floor.
"Is this for this boy?" His voice was a whisper, but I could hear it.
-What are you talking about?
"Is this for this boy?" Lawrence?
All right. This had nothing to do with Aaron. Well, maybe a little. But he did not understand why he brought it up at this time.
"What the hell are you talking about?" I trailed my eyebrows and she lifted her eyes to my face.
"Let's go Kelsey, I'm not an idiot. I know that boy has been driving you crazy. That Aaron ... You do not stop talking about him, and you've even become friends with his brothers.
God, why did he have to bring up this subject that had nothing to do right now?
"Tris, this has nothing to do with Aaron. It has to do with you trying to get me a guy when I do not need one. It has to do with not consulting me when you bring me on a date. It has to do with that now, at this moment, Jake and Key are having a very bad time, because you just thought of yourself and how nice it would be for me to go out with your boyfriend's brother ...
"I did not do it for my Kelsey, I did it for you." I closed my mouth instantly, what was coming would be good, I felt it. You're so focused on that kid and everything he does that you do not even realize I'm doing this for you. I want you to be well in this new life that we are beginning to walk the two, and that boy will only bring you problems. Listen to what I'm saying Kelsey, listen to me once.
"Do you realize that everything you're saying does not make sense?" "I did not want to argue anymore, there was no point in arguing with her by putting those foolish arguments. I met Aaron two months ago, and I only talked to him three. I did not know him, and neither did she. How was she so sure it would go wrong? And what did she know about what she felt for Aaron? You know what? Forget this. Let's go out. They're waiting for us. "She nodded. Just promise me you will never do it again, Tris. Promise me.
"I promise," she whispered. We left the bathroom and walked back to our table. As soon as they saw us, Jake and Key fell silent.
"What were they talking about?" Tris smiled forcibly and I sat down in my chair.
"Nothing important." Jake took his fork and stuffed a piece of food into his mouth.
Wow, I was so frustrated that I had not even noticed that my pasta had arrived. What's the matter with you, Kelsey? IT IS FOOD!
I took some of what was on my plate and I was delighted at the taste.
God, how good was this.
"This is cool." She escaped my lips with a sigh of pleasure.
You're about to have an orgasm.
"Not so much as this." I turned my head to Key. I was eating a weird thing that had many other weird things on it. I looked disgusted. Nobody messes with my pasta.
"I do not believe you." A laugh came from his throat before my disgusted face.
"Find out for yourself." He took some of whatever was on his plate with his fork and held it to my lips.
God this had a horrible smell.
"Come on, I promise you'll like it." I closed my eyes and opened my mouth.
You can Kelsey, you can.
I felt that sticky and crunchy thing in my mouth and chewed just a little. Key river before my face of disgust.
Well, he was not as bad as he thought. It had a salty taste and sweet at the same time ... Who would say it?
I swallowed it and opened my eyes. Everyone at the table was looking at me.
-How are you? Key had that beautiful smile on his face. His eyes glowed a little and a pair of dimples formed in his cheeks.
Oh God.
"He's very good ..." I knew the only one who understood double entender was me, but I could not help feeling the heat on my cheeks. But I'll keep the pasta.
I always had the pasta.
