Chapter 19
They decided to just leave the cave. Only bad memories were associated with it. Ava had managed to keep in her tears for a long time, keeping an impassive expression on her face, but then they had walked through the woods and seen the dead woman from before and she had burst into tears.
The sobbing kept up until they came back to the boat. A shocked gasped interrupted her tears as they saw it.
They bags had been torn up and Aaron's was gone. Their clothes were strewn across the water's edge and around the boat and all the books were gone.
"What happened?" Jennifer asked in shock.
"Aaron," Ava replied hoarsely. "He wanted the gems."
"But the books," Jennifer said.
"My guess is they disappeared like the gems and necklaces did," Rebecca said.
Jennifer nodded in agreement. It was the only reasonable excuse.
They got the boat started again. The ride back to the mainland was silent. Alex and Rebecca were sitting in the front seat. Alex's hand was resting on Rebecca's on the gear. A peaceful smile settled onto his face when he realized that this was finally over. He could go home and never use his power again. It had only been five months, but Alex felt it would be nice to return to his normal life back in the mansion.
Before this all he had loved his life, and then it had felt empty when he didn't see or hear from Rebecca in months. But now, with her hands under his, life felt good again.
When they reached the mainland, Alex quickly returned the boat to the owner and they called a cab from the rundown bar in the small town they had stayed in. Two cabs came from a bigger town a little while away for them an hour later.
No one talked as they all got into the cars and drove away from the coastline of Ireland and in the direction of Dublin.
Alex made a call from the cab, making sure they had tickets on the first ride to the US.
Ava had jumped in the cab with them, and was now leaning her head on Rebecca's shoulder, sleeping restlessly. Tears were still streaming down her face, even in an unconscious state.
Rebecca smiled softly at Alex.
Alex smiled back. How would never have thought he'd ever see Rebecca with Ava on her shoulder. They had both been so cold and sarcastic girls. It was almost peaceful to see them together now.
Alex lied his head against the car window, the fatigue washing over him. He was asleep within minutes.

A loud yawn escaped Jennifer's lips when she stepped of the plane, once again on American soil. They had all fallen asleep on the long ride, and Jennifer hadn't even noticed that the time had flown away. She had been so frightened to enter that plane, and then she hadn't even noticed it had gone.
Now she was well rested and ready to take on the problems that awaited her at home.
Now that it was all behind them, her focus was on her family, but mostly her father. The rumors that were bound to still go around school, especially since she had disappeared again.
They found Rebecca's car fast enough, just where they had left it before they gone to England.
Rebecca was going to drive them and then drop them off.
She began with Drew, deciding to drive all the way to Hemet first. Then he would drop of Alex, Jennifer and lastly she would drive Ava to the airport, as she would have to fly back to Florida and they hadn't gotten a plane ticket from the same airport.
