Chapter 12
This was wrong. Ava could feel the power radiating from the mountain. She could definitely feel the strong warlock occupying the cave. But she could also feel three barely there auras radiation. And to top it off, there was a slightly weaker woman in there too. Ava knew she would be just a regular witch like herself. She didn't know how she knew, but she was aware of it.
Someone had obviously taken the liberty of recruiting help. There was no way the six of them could get past all those.
"There are five of them," Ava told them quietly, not wanting to alert whoever occupied the cave of their presence.
"How do you know?" Drew whispered back.
"I can feel it," Ava snapped, tired of having to explain this stuff.
"Can you feel Him?" Jennifer asked, referring to the Great Evil.
"There is some kind of powerful source. I would assume that is him. Then there are three things, but they are weak. I believe he has been feeding of them as they are so weak. Then there is a witch, she has regular power, like me and Aaron," Ava said.
"So he has been recruiting, with other words. How are we supposed to do this?" Alex asked in frustration.
He had no idea what he was doing. This wasn't something he wanted to do. He was terrified of going inside there. He didn't know Whir would happen, and that scared him. He wanted to get it over with, but he didn't know how to do that. How to face some kind of thing that had lived for centuries and had powers beyond his imagination.
"We only have to remember what the Book said. Only when the elements are united," Rebecca reminded them. “Any ideas?”
“We should just go in,” Ava supplied while she shrugged and seemed oblivious of the stares she received.
“Are you kidding me?” Drew asked, incredulously.
"Do you have a better plan?"
"What about we sit here and think. We can't just go in there completely unprepared!" Drew yelled.
"You should at least be quiet," Ava told him easily. "But what will sitting out here, waiting for something to happen."
"If we go in there without a plan, we'll be killed. You saw that witch," Drew argued.
"The point is not to be seen, so we can gather some information," Ava said, stubbornly. She refused to back down from this
Alex thought back to the small green man he had seen earlier that morning. You need to go to the mountain. Did that mean they would have to actually enter the mountain right away? Alex thought it did.
"Ava's right. We need to go in. Take a look around. Check it out, but we need to be careful. We can't be seen," Alex said.
Drew looked at him in surprise.
"Are you kidding me? You're going to agree with her?" he asked.
Alex nodded, albeit a bit hesitantly.
"Yea, at least about this. She’s right. Sitting out here won't solve anything.
"B-but..." Drew stuttered. He seemed to think about it for a few seconds before he relented. "Fine, but if we die, I'll blame you, Ava."
Ava snorted.
"You think I care if you blame me for anything, alive or dead?" she asked.
Drew simply ignored her.
"Great, then we have to find the entrance," Rebecca ordered.
They all nodded in agreement before they began walking closer to the mountain wall.
