Chapter 6

A painful amount of time later, and the cab stopped. While Alex paid the driver, Rebecca practically diver out of the cab. The air inside the car had been unbearably hot and pressed between two big guys; there drive hadn't been the best of her life. It was even worse than driving around in her small Toyota.

She spotted Jennifer and Ava right away. They were standing on the grassy hill, still a hundred feet away from the stones Rebecca could see in the distance.

The two girls seemed to be arguing like always, but Rebecca was relieved to see Jennifer's sickness had passed quickly. She watched as Ava turned away from Jennifer with a scowl on her face.

"You ready to go, guys?" Ava called impatiently from where she was standing.

Rebecca glanced behind her and saw Alex and Aaron walking together, whispering fiercely. It didn't look like an amiable conversation, but Rebecca decided to ignore it. Let boys be boys and all that. Instead, she turned back around and caught up with Drew who had been walking just a few steps in front of her.

Drew glanced at Rebecca from the corner of his eye. Two weeks ago, he would never have believed that the two of them could be friends, real friends and not just fake. But here they were, and Drew felt as close to her as he was to Kimmy from back home. Like they had known each other forever.

"So what exactly did Melanie say to you? What are you expecting to find here?" Drew asked.

Rebecca turned her head to look at him.

"She said that Anna believed this is the place the Great Evil would raise. I just thought we could find some kind of clue here," she answered distractedly.

Drew stared at the setting sun in the horizon. It was getting closer to nightfall, and here they were, visiting a famous English tourist attraction looking for clues about an age-old warlock who wanted to destroy the world. What a way to spend his first time ever out of the States.

At that thought, Drew faltered for just a moment. He hadn't really given their quest that much thought. At the beginning of their trip, he just wanted answers and he got them. They did realize their purpose. It just wasn't until that moment he realized what was in their future.

"Hey, Rebecca?" He asked hesitantly.

Rebecca gave an uncommitted nod of her head.

"Do you realize that when we find the Great Evil, whoever he may be, that we actually have to fight him? Actually we need to kill him," Drew stated.

Rebecca faltered in her steps just as Drew had when realization dawned on her.

"No," she answered curtly. "I didn't think of that."

Drew nodded slightly. He couldn't believe he hadn't thought of it before. He knew Niall had trained them for something, but killing the worst evil force known in modern witchcraft? It hadn't crossed his mind even once. And now that he knew the truth, he couldn't help the fear that settled deep in his stomach. What the hell had he gotten himself into?

"I'm just saying that the way you act is actually quite annoying," Ava stated with a roll of her eyes as she walked out of the cab.

She knew they were the first to arrive as they had passed the other cab about half an hour ago.

"Excuse me?" Jennifer asked, following right after her.

They began walking towards the rocks, not waiting for Drew as he had to stay behind and make sure Alex paid for their cab.

"I said the way you act is annoying," Ava repeated.
