Chapter 2
“R-Rebecca…?” Niall asked, his eyes glinting in slight fear.
“It certainly is, Mr. O’Dwier. You know, I don’t understand why you let us run free for so long. Just imagine all the things we could find out,” Rebecca answered, her voice sickly-sweet.
She took a step closer to him, allowing the other three to follow in behind her.
“W-What do you mean?” he asked, his eyes gliding between the four of them as they all stepped inside his small office.
The room suddenly felt very crowded. Niall pressed himself against the desk, his eyes glancing around nervously. He refused to look either of them in the eye.
“I think you know what I mean. Now, I will give you one chance to tell us the truth and nothing but the truth. Remember, you don’t know what we know, so it would be smart being honest this time around,” Rebecca said.
Niall seemed to have gotten over his initial fear as he stood up and looked at them.
“I have been searching for you for a long time, ever since you left the mansion,” Niall began.
“Don’t give us that crap, Niall. We were home in California for a month and a half before we left again,” Drew said harshly.
Though he also had trusted the man, he could now see how nervous Niall was at their appearance and it all flew out the window.
“I-I didn’t realize. I didn’t think you would go somewhere I knew,” Niall answered.
“And there you go lying again,” Alex interrupted.
“I’ll only say it one more time, Mr. O’Dwier. Tell us the truth, or else I can’t be hold accountable for any damage happening in this room. Just remember, I have grown a lot more powerful since March,” Rebecca said calmly in a monotone voice as she stepped closer.
“Honestly, I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Niall answered at once.
“A little fast there, Mr. O’Dwier. Maybe you just need some convincing,” Rebecca said as she lessened the distance between.
She rubbed her fingers together slowly, creating small sparks to fly from her fingertips. She laid her hand very close to his head.
“I’d speak now, Niall. I’ve learned from own experiences that hair is highly flammable,” Drew said as Rebecca began rubbing faster.
Niall was glancing between Rebecca and her fingers nervously. The sparks flew off her fingertips creating small flames as they hit the paper lying on his desk. Sweat began trickling down his forehead.
“Last chance, Mr. O’Dwier,” Rebecca whispered, pressing her hand closer to his head.
“Fine!” he relented. “I’ll tell you everything!”
A satisfied smile passed on Rebeccas face as she walked around the desk and sat down in one of the four chairs in front of it. The other three followed her, occupying the other three chairs.
“Begin talking, Niall,” Jennifer demanded.
Niall glanced briefly at her, before his gaze settled on a point behind their heads.
“My family is from Ireland as you may remember. I was born there and lived there until I was fifteen when my parents died. They had both been sick for a long time, so it didn’t come as a big shock. I didn’t have any close family members nearby. They all had moved to different sides of the country and I wasn’t particularly close to any of them, so I got to choose where I wanted to live. I chose to stay with my mother’s younger brother here in the States.
