“Why didn’t you tell me about your dad?”
I looked over at Niall and kept playing with his hand. I shrugged.
“You never asked me.”
We were lying on my bed in the hotel room and my head was on Niall’s stomach. My dad had left right after the awards. He flew home so he could see my mom and brother before he had to leave next weekend to go back.
“You miss him a lot when he’s gone.”
I nodded and sighed, a tear rolling down my face.
“Every night I cry not knowing if he’s safe or not. He could die any second out there and I could never see him again. It just hurts because we were so close before he left for the military.”
“Why does he do it then? If he knows how much it hurts you.”
“He feels like he has to serve our country. He wanted to leave right when he turned 18 but he ended up getting my mom pregnant and stayed to help raise Austin. Then they had me and my dad stayed until he thought my mom could handle us. He’s been gone ever since.”
“Does he ever come home to see you guys?”
“Occasionally but he can only stay for the weekend but sometime we get lucky and he stays for the week, like right now for example he gets to stay until next Sunday.”
He nodded and leaned down, bringing me into a passionate kiss. He cupped my face and I covered his hand with mine, holding it there. He pulled away but I kept my eyes closed. He kissed me eye lids and then pulled away as I fluttered them open. He smiled at me.
“Can I get a picture of you? I want to have something to look at when I’m in London.”
“Just face time me then.”
“When you’re busy, or when I can’t sleep at night. Please?”
I nodded and he smiled, pulling his phone out. I fixed my hair and he rolled his eyes.
“You look perfect, Tess.”
I blushed and looked down causing him to snap a picture.
“What was that for?”
“That picture is adorable, Tess, honestly.”
I rolled my eyes and crawled over to him looking at it. It actually wasn’t too bad. He flipped the camera so it was facing us and I made a funny face when he snapped it.
I looked at the picture and laughed when I realized he had smiled, thinking it was going to be a regular picture. He snapped a picture of me laughing and I shoved him over.
“You’re impossible.”
“Well, I’ll be right back.”
He hopped up and disappeared for a bit before returning with two spoons in his hands. He flashed me a smile and I smirked, placing it on my nose. We stuck our tongues out and he took a picture.
We took the spoon off our noses and I leaned in, kissing him. I smiled into the kiss and he stuck his arm out, snapping a picture. I looked at it and a smile spread across my face.
“Now time for a normal picture, yeah?”
I nodded and he pulled me in. I smiled and so did he as he snapped the picture.
“Perfect.”
“Send me those? I want pictures to look at as well. As a matter of fact, hand me my phone. It’s time for your photo shoot, pop star.”
