Sleep

Let's just casually ignore how bad this is. I'm tired, and want to sleep right now lol. But I still need to get things done. So yes, here is a short story about how amazing sleep is.

Many people would rather be asleep than awake. It's natural, sleep is so much better than being awake and moving around. Of course, there is a reason for that.

I mean, part of it could just be one is tired. That their body is craving rest. But what about those moments where you're completely energized, but just want to be asleep?

Almost all of us want to chase that state of unconsciousness, not debated. Even a good majority of insomniacs still crave sleep. And yes, part of that is just wanting to rest. But really, sleep is so much more. Take away the aspect of nightmares, the things that jerk us out of the peaceful slumber. No, sleep is those moments where everything you worry about disappears, where all those built up emotions can just fade away.

Sleep is that state of complete relaxation, all those tormenting thoughts going away. And then there's that one moment.

That one moment when you wake up, and can't remember anything of the past days. Where you're awake, but those things that bother you are absent. Just a quick moment, but even that moment needs to be savored. So peaceful, that state of disorientation caused by sleep. You're not concerned about how you look, not worried about the problems of yesterday, all you want to is to disappear into that state of unconsciousness again. Because it's so perfect.

A lot of people say they just want that moment where they don't care, when other people aren't hurting them. But in reality, they have that moment almost every night as they sleep.

Maybe I'm going too deep here, and sleep is just sleep. That's probably the case. I'm just taking a simple thing and twisting it into this perfection. But the thing is, I'm not twisting anything, because sleep, that instinctive action, is just that.

Whenever you're upset late at night, maybe even about something small, don't torture yourself by forcing your mind to stay in that state of chaos. Just close your eyes, and let yourself drift off into sleep. Sure you'll wake up again, but it'll be another day, another day to figure out and overcome whatever made your upset. Another day that will end with that state of peace yet again. So yes, that simple thing called 'sleep' is one of the most perfect cures of them all.
