“So, you’re adopted?” Sammy asked when we got to my house. His question earned him a swat at the back of his head

“Seriously? She just got done telling us that her mother died from unknown causes last night, and that’s all you picked from it?” Chris replied, shaking his head in disgust. Sammy’s eyes narrowed and he opened his mouth. At that point, I intervened.

“Okay, calm down. It’s not that big of a deal. Yeah, I am adopted. It’s weird, I know.” I said before there could be a fight. Sammy and Chris looked guilty and both mumbled out a sorry. I just shook my head.

“You want anything?” I said as I walked into my kitchen, scouring the cupboards.

“No,” was their simultaneous reply. I sighed a bit and grabbed an orange, really not hungry. I plopped down on the couch next to my two boys, with my back resting against the armrest and my feet on Chris’s legs.

“So, this must be really hard on you. I just want to say, Sammy and I are here for you.” Chris smiled sweetly at me and started messaging my feet softly.

“Yeah, I know. Thank you, for being there for me.” I said softly, closing eyes and drifts off to sleep.

“It’s been said that a Witch will be named Daughter of the Moon if born on a blue moon. It’s also been said that a Witch born at Midnight on Halloween day will be named Daughter of Chaos. Never has a Witch been both…Until now. Eighteen years ago, a Witch was born on midnight on Halloween under the blue moon’s glow.”

A female, who looked the part of a Queen, walks up to a podium. She looked regal, business-like. She was talking to a crowd of thousands in a city hall of some sort.

“This Witch lives among the humans. She knows what their weaknesses are, what they think. She is the key to winning our planned war against humans.”

She was interrupted by the thunderous applause. She smoothed down her black silk dress, fixes her crown, which was made of black onyx, and waited. After minutes, the applause finally died down.

“We will have her turned to Darkness. She will be the Mistress of Chaos. She will have complete control over it. Of course, if she complies, our Dark Goddess, Karinara, will turn this young Witch into her puppet. The Witch will have to obey every command Karinara says.”

                The woman bowed her head.

“Meeting adjourned. We will pick up again tomorrow night.” She announced, walking away from the podium.”

*Karina*

“That damned Karinara. She is nothing but trouble.” Karina started pacing in her meadow after watching the Tribe’s meeting

“She cannot get her hands on Sasha. I will not allow it!” She sighed and sat down underneath an oak tree.

“She cannot let Queen Persephone go on with this war, especially against the humans.” Karina was frustrated and scared for Sasha. She decided to look down to Sasha and smiled as she saw the young Witch sleeping.

“Your heart grieves too much, my young Daughter. Open it up to the Light around you and you will get through this. Don’t listen to the Dark whispers that lurk around.” Karina whispered to the sleeping Witch, hoping she can get through this.
