I awoke in my bed with the amulet next to me. I sat up and stretched seeing a little note on my night stand table. I smiled as I saw Chris’s girly, loopy handwriting

Sammy and I went to the store. We’ll be back soon.

Love us always, Sammy & Chris

I slipped out of my bed, feeling awkward at the silence in the house.

“This house will never be the same.” I muttered to myself, going to my parents’ room. I saw a little storage box on their bed. I walked up to it and peered in, looking at all its contents. A neon green paper caught my attention. I grabbed it, surprised to see my mom’s calligraphy on it. It was dated October 23rd, weirdly 4 days before her death.

If you reading this dear Sasha, it means we told you what you were.

That also means your dad was a dick and killed me because of this.

Tell your dad I will haunt his ass because of this.

In this case are plane tickets to Russia, where your birth parents are.

My secret for this is simple: Your birth mother is my sister.

I’m your aunt.

And just to tell you now, you aren’t just a Witch.

You are a part of a Clan called the Spirtias.

They’re powerful and the Clan is huge. Don’t do anything rash.

Also, you are a pawn to a war in which Karinara wants to happen.

You are special Sasha, and because of that, there are others that will use you.

You may have questions and there are answers;

But it means that you have to be brave to find them.

You are faced with a challenge:

Be a pawn in the war with Karinara like your destiny or

Sacrifice your powers and your memories to protect your loved ones.

Signed always,

Lacy Andrea Spirtia.

I could not put my head around this. You are faced with a challenge: Be a pawn in the war with Karinara like your destiny or sacrifice your powers and memories to protect your loved ones. Those words echoed around my head eerily. I did not like the sound of the choices. A small chill decided to rest on the base of my spine.

“What the hell are you doing?!” I jumped and turned around at the sound of the voice. I was shocked to see my dad.

“I said, what the hell are you doing?” He asked again, his blue eyes narrowed in anger.

“I...Um…” I said brilliantly, utterly shocked at his anger.

“You aren’t welcomed here, you ungrateful little bitch!”

“Yes, I am. I live here. Lacy was my mother and I am eighteen in three days. You can’ tell me what the fuck to do!” I screamed at him, earning a slap to the face. I fell right down to the floor, holding my stinging cheek. “Mom was right. You are a dick.” I spat at him. I dodged his kick and stood right back up.

Just then Chris and Sammy came in the house. I kicked Jeremy in the shin and ran down the stairs. They both stared at my face, which was probably bright red.

“What happened?” Sammy asked as Chris went into the kitchen to get a wet, cold towel.

“Me being a smart-ass as usual to my dad and he decided to be a dick.” I said, surprised at how my voice sounded so neutral.

Chris came back and put the towel on my cheek. I winced slightly and sighed. During this time, I made my choice. Tonight I will pack and tomorrow I’ll fly to Russia to meet my birth parents. Then learn more about this war and how I will be a pawn in it.
