★Chapter Twenty Five ★
My phone buzzed as I switched off the radio, the music starting to melt my brain a little bit. Not because it was bad, I do enjoy Michael Jackson, but my headache was getting worse. I pick up the phone to show 2 new text messages blinking at me.
I open them.
“ASHHHH HE GAVE U A SHOUTOUT LIKE TWICE OMG!!!! XOXOX” Carla had sent. I could imagine her hyperventilating as she texted it, struggling to find the right buttons. I chuckled at the thought.
“Awesome! He mentioned you:D Jade x” Jade was far more laid back, sending me a calmer text. I reply to them both before shutting my phone again, flinging it to the other end of my bed.
Unfortunately, I overshot it. It flies onto the floor and I hear a deafening crack.
“Shit.” I mutter, tiptoeing over to inspect the damage. I pick up the wreckage carefully to see two defined cracks across the middle of the cell. I almost throw it in a rage again, but decide better. At least it's not a touch-screen phone, it'll just be an annoyance. I sigh, this time carefully placing it on my bedside table.
I just realised being ill sucks. If I weren't ill, I'd of been at school gossiping with the girls, or having a dribble contest with Chris. (Just kidding- I'll leave that up to him.) I could be casting evil glances at Lucy and pulling faces at Ben. I cross my arms, frowning. I know, I'll get Mom's laptop and try to contact that girl we found on youtube...Amy I think it was.
I lift my heavy bones off the bed in search for the laptop.
“Mom, where's the laptop?” I shout down the stairs.
“It's where you last put it!” Came the reply.
How is that going to help? I don't remember where I last put it.
“...Mom, where's the laptop?”
I hear her sigh, probably wondering how I get through a day without looking for something.
“It's by the table next to the wardrobe.”
“Thanks!”
I pick up the laptop and settle back under the covers in my room, booting it up. I log in, typing nothing in particular impatiently whilst it loaded. The welcome screen flashed up before I was on the desktop. I open the internet and go on youtube, looking through the inboxes. There were literally thousands. I think I'm gonna have to put a lock on the inboxes, so that only friends or your subscriptions can inbox you. I have to go to the last page to find Amy's details again.
My attention is diverted when Mom brings me up a winter version of Lucky Charms, where the marshmallow pieces are snowflakes and Christmas trees. I feel slightly better just looking at the packet.
“Do you want me to bring you up a bowl and milk as well?” She asks, already knowing the answer.
“Mmff, nohf fanks.” Came my muffled reply, my mouth already full of cereal. I didn't care if it was the afternoon, I could eat Lucky Charms for the rest of my life.
Ehem. Moving on. I look back at the message, writing down her number. I dial it into my cell, avoiding the cracks so I don't cut myself, and listen to the dial tone.
“Hello? Who's this?” Came the questioning reply.
“Hi Amy! It's me, Ash! You know, Justin's friend. Sorry I haven't contacted you in a while, I've been busy and I’m ill at the moment, so I thought I'd call you and organise a date when we can meet up and stuff.” I babble, out of breath afterwards.
“Oh hi Ashleigh! You've kinda called at an awkward time as I'm in the middle of my after school club right now, but I can call you back in a couple of hours?”
