After the tour Ruby escorts me to an office. She opens the door and smiles. "This is your new office." I walked in and gasped. It was huge. "Why is it so you know roomy?" She laughs. "What can't the heir to the company have a big office?" I smile. "I guess he can." She smiles.

I walk over to the desk and sit down. I look at the whole office and sighed. I still haven't wrapped my mind around the fact that I'm here in New York. Then Ruby walks over to my side and sits on top of the desk. "So you want to go out to lunch?" I gave her a weird look.

"We need to start work already." She laughs. "Oh come on it can't be all work for you and besides you're the boss you can do whatever you want." She says with a flirtatious smile. I shake my head. "Yes that might be so but I have to keep the professionalism around here."

She laughs. "You spoke like a true role model." I laugh. "Oh I am far from that." She gives me a weird look. "Why do you say that?" I sigh. "Oh it's nothing." She smiles. "Oh come on talk to me." "It's best that I don't." She nudges me. "Hey we're going to be partners, it's best that we learn to trust each other." I sigh. "And we can start by talking to one another like this." I smile.

"How about we continue to talk over lunch?" I smile. "I like the sound of that." She smiles. "Awesome I'll meet you in the lobby." I nod and she walks out. I sat back and smiled. Even though Ruby is such a flirt she's so nice to care about how I'm feeling. It's been a while since I've had a friend. I mean my whole life revolved around Emma and the kids, which of course I didn't mind but it's good to have someone else to talk to.

I  walk out of the office and Jo my secretary calls out to me. "Mr. Jones will you be out for the rest of the day?" I smiled. "Yes, I will be back tomorrow." She smiles. "Ok see you tomorrow." I smiled and walked away. It felt awesome not having to ask people for permission. I walked over to the elevator and soon enough I was in the lobby area.

I get there and I see Ruby talking to the receptionist. She looks at me and smiles. "You ready Killian?" I nod. "Ok Ashley, see you later." Ruby says. Ashley waves goodbye. "Goodbye Mr. Jones." Ashley says with a flirtatious smile. Ruby and I walked out and she started to laugh.

"Why are you laughing?" "You used to people flirting with you huh?" I smiled. "Yes I actually am can't help it I'm handsome." She chuckles. "Humble are we?" I shake my head. "So where do you want to go eat?" She smiles. "It's about a 5 minute walk from here. It's a rooftop bar." I smiled. "Sounds like fun." She smiles.

After 5 minutes we make it to the bar. We get there and were quickly seated by the window. The view of the city was amazing from here. "You like it?" I nod. "It's amazing." She smiles. "I knew you would like it." I nod. "It's changed so much since I've been here." She nods. That's when the waitress comes.

"Hello what can I get for you today?" I smile as I look over the menu. "I would like a raspberry iced tea." She nods. Ruby chuckles. "Really Killian?" "No drinking." She pouts. I shake my head. "Fine." She smiles. "A scotch on the rocks for both of us." The waitress smiles. "Any appetizers?" Ruby smiles. "Well I know what I want, buffalo wings and fries." I smile. "Sounds good I'll be having that too." The waitress smiles. "Coming right up." "Thank you." Ruby says with a smile. I nod.

I sigh and smile. "So what were you saying in the office?" I sigh. "Nothing." She scoffs. "Come on Killian we promised each other." I nod. That's when the waitress places our drinks in front of us. We smile. "No nothing I was just saying that I don't feel like a role model or anything." "Why?" I take a sip and sigh. "Well because I left my family to come here."

Ruby sighs. "There's nothing wrong with that." I nod. "I know it's just I feel guilty, my place is in California alongside Emma and our kids." She nods. "Im pretty sure Emma is proud of you, I mean wasn't she happy that you got this job right?" I nod. "She was thrilled but I feel like this part of my life is over you know I'm not a bachelor." She nods. "Hey you deserve some time to yourself too." I sigh and nod.

"Hey at least you have someone that loves you and is proud of you." She says and sighs. "Why do you say that?" She drinks some water and sighs again. "Nothing it's just, I really shouldn't say anything it was in the past." "Well if you don't want to talk about it I understand." She smiles. "I've had a bad relationship with my parents, they treated me like trash." I gasp. "Well anyways I've always tried to make them be proud of me, but no matter what I did they just belittled me." I shake my head.

"And after that I was in a bad relationship." I gave her a weird look. "The man treated me like crap and he even hit me." I gasp. "Are you serious?" She nods. She sighs then laughs. "Oh my God you don't care about that I am so sorry Killian." I smile. "No I appreciate the fact that you trust me enough to tell me this." She smiles. "So yeah I suffered a lot but I slowly got the confidence back, got this amazing job and now I'm a big flirt in case you didn't notice." I laugh. "I could tell." She smiles.

As we continued to talk the waitress brings our food. "Let's dig in." Ruby says with a smile. We began to eat and continued to enjoy of each other's company. I felt so bad for Ruby how can a man lay a hand on her. She's an amazing human being. I was so happy to know that I will be working alongside her. I know we will be the best of friends.

Time passes by and we walk back to the office and walked to the Parking structure. I walk Ruby to her car. "I had an amazing time Killian." I smiled. "As did I." She smiles. "Well I will see you tomorrow, Partner." I nod. She gets in and drives away. I walk over to my car and got in. I turned it on and drove to my apartment.

I walked in and expected to be greeted by my little ones or Emma but there was no one. I had forgotten I was alone. I sat on the couch and thought of Ruby. Even though we met today I felt like I could trust her and vice versa. I leaned back and smiled. I couldn't wait to see what awesome things are in store for us here.
