Life Never goes as Planned

Pain

Pain. That was the only thing I was feeling on my way back to main land. How was I going to tell my little ones that their daddy is never coming home. I was thinking of every possible of way of telling them without breaking their hearts but their wasn't.

"Emma?" I hear a voice say. I look up at who was interrupting my thoughts and it was Jesse." "Yeah?" He smiles. "We are here, Im in charge of taking you home." I smile. "You don't have to Jesse." He smiles. "But I want to, and besides Peter told me that I am assigned to be your care taker." I gave him a weird look.

"Care taker?" I ask giving him a weird look. "I don't need a care taker, I can take care of myself, I don't need a babysitter." He sighs then smiles. "I know you can but it so happens that Lacy, that's your friend's name right?" I nod. "She's busy too, so she can't always be on the lookout for you and besides you've been through something traumatic, let me help." I give him a weird look.

"Not to be mean, but we just met, I mean you've been super nice to me but..." That's when Peter walks in. "What's the matter?" He asks wondering why I had a straight face. "If you're worried about Jesse, you shouldn't he's an amazing guy, not only is he a respectable man he is a good doctor, so accept him." I sigh.

"I don't know, look I can't even..." Peter puts his hand up. "Look Im covering the costs, it's the least I can do Emma." I sigh. I look at Jesse and he gives me a warm smile. "I guess." He smiles. Peter then claps and smiles. "Well Jesse, go and take your new patient to her home." That's when Lacy walks into the room carrying our bags.

"Ready Emma?" I nod. I start to move to stand up and Jesse pushes me down. "No no, you can't stand. I'll carry you." I look at Lacy and Peter. Peter laughs. "You heard the doctor." I sigh and nod. He picks me up and holds me bridal style. "I hope I'm not too heavy for you." He smiles. "No you're not." I smile.

He walks me to a car and places me inside. Lacy goes and sits next to me. "I will be back ok?" I nod as he closes the door. I look at Lacy and she's squinting her eyes. "This guy, I don't know but he has something for you." I laugh. "He's just nice." She scoffs. That's when he gets into the car and we stayed quiet.

The whole ride back I was just leaning against the seat. Crying quietly, just hiding my sobs. I had a glimpse of hope and it all just died. 1 hour and half later we arrived to my house. Lacy had called my in laws on my way over so they were waiting for us at my house. Lacy grabbed my things and that's when Jesse came and picked me up.

He walked me to the house and then placed me on my bed. As soon as I was on my bed two little set of bodies jumped on me, making me grunt and groan from the pain. But I didn't care. I hugged them and started to cry. "Mommy, we missed you," they both said and I kissed both of them on their foreheads. "I did too, my little ones," I said. Jesse stood there smiling at me.

"I will be coming tomorrow morning and from that day on, I will be taking care of you." I sigh and nod. "Yes doctor," I say and he laughs. "Good." He says and walks away. Lacy takes the kids away as my in laws walk in. "What happened? And where did you go?" They both asked giving me a straight face. I sigh.

"I went to the crash site." They both gasped. "Emma, you weren't supposed to go out!" They both scream. I nod. "I know, I know," I say with tears forming in my eyes. "He's gone, I saw his body." They both gasp and Claire bursts into more tears. They both knew he was dead but with what I said I think they had a glimpse of hope.

"He's gone, he's not coming back, and I never told him about his children, he died without knowing about his little boy and girl." I said bursting into more tears. My mother in law hugs me and caresses my head. "Shhh sweetie, it's ok, the circumstances in why you made that decision are understandable." "Please, Claire, Brennan can you forgive me?" They both smiled.

Brennan looks at the necklace and smiles. "There's nothing to be forgiven for, we love you sweetie, even though it brakes our heart and soul that our son had such a horrible death, it's life." He says and I nod. "Well get some rest sweetie, I'm pretty sure that doctor brought you in because you had a crisis?" I nod then sighed.

They nod. "Can you tell Lacy to bring the twins in?" They nod and walked out the door. Now it was time to tell my little ones some horrible news. Lacy brings the twins in and they sit in front of me. "Leía, Liam, mommy has to say something to the both of you," I say and look up at Lacy. She gives me a soft face and nods.

"I want to talk about Daddy." They both smile. "I miss him mommy, when is he coming home," Liam says. Tears start to form in my eyes. "Go get the bears daddy got for you guys," I say and they ran off to grab their teddy bears. Lacy comes up to me and hugs me. "It's ok I'll be here," she says and I nod.

They come back in each hugging their teddy bears. "Daddy isn't coming home." Their faces dropped. "Why?" They both ask. "He still has to be away?" Leía asks and I smile. "No sweetie, daddy died." They both sat there a bit confused. "Daddy is never coming home, he's in heaven with your little brother."

That's when Liam starts to cry. "Mommy, daddy is in heaven?" I nod as he came up to me to give me a hug. Leía just sat there hugging the bear. "Leía sweetie," I said and she sat there with a blank expression on her face. "Remember when you miss daddy just hug your teddy bear," a tear falls down her cheek as she hugs her bear. It honestly killed me.

I leaned back on the bed as they both hugged me. Then they both sit up and I smile. "But you two need to be strong, for your little sister." I say and they both smile. Then they each burry their faces close to my belly. I looked at Lacy and she walks up to me and sighs. I smiled. "Lacy go home to your husband, it's a miracle that man hasn't divorced you, you spend more time with me than him. It seems that you're married to me instead of him," I say and she laughs.

"Oh my husband clearly knows that you are someone important and besides you know how understanding he is," she says and I nod. "Go home, be with your love, I will be fine." She smiles. "You sure?" "Go!" I say with a smile and she nods. "Yes boss," she says and I laugh. "I'll be back tomorrow gotta keep an eye on that Jesse doctor." I shake my head laughing as I look down to see my little ones fast asleep hugging their little teddy bears.

My in laws walk in. "They know?" Claire asks me. I nod. "I'm so sorry sweetie." I sigh. "It will take some getting used to, but we will be ok." They nod. "Well we have to get back to Hawaii." I nod. "Thank you so much for coming." They nod. "Of course sweetie, we will always love you ok?" Claire says and I nod. "Thanks." They walk away and close the door behind them.

I hug my twins tight, that's when they go up and burry their faces in my chest. Just like when they were babies. I look up and I start to cry. Oh my little Aaron I hope you welcomed your daddy well in heaven, even though I am heartbroken I hope you rest well in his arms. I hugged my twins tighter, and with that sleep took over my body and I fell asleep.
