Kayden Van Din

Eventually, Brannon pulled up to the school in his black, shiny truck. He walked into the front entrance to meet his younger siblings in the office.

"I'll need to you to sign some things, verifying your relation to them." The lady in the office peered over her rimmed glasses.

Brannon rolled his eyes. "Whatever. Can we just get this over with?" He grabbed a clipboard of papers and began to sign them.

"Really?" He muttered every now and then. "This is bull."

Kayden watched as Norman rubbed his palms back and forth on his khakis.

"What's wrong?" She whispered. Norman shook his head. He looked nervous sitting their beside his brother, who'd taken a seat to sign the papers. Kayden couldn't help but fear for Norman sometimes. He often had severe mood swings that could only be stopped when Kayden calmed him down.

Norman put his hands into fists and flexed them repeatedly. The overwhelming feeling to punch Brannon was unexplainable. He
watched him sign the stack of documents with his full name and job.

Kayden waited patiently and realized her palms were sweaty. She watched as Brannon finished signing the papers. He returned them to the desk.

"You're free to go." The office lady said blandly.

Brannon snorted. "Thank you, 'officer'. Come on you two."

Kayden and Norman followed their brother out of the office. Brannon had parked close to the school as Kayden could see Angelica sitting on the passengers seat. She rolled her eyes.

Angelica Reeves, Brannon's girlfriend, was a snooty brat. She had an upturned nose and beautiful cheeks. Kayden swore Angelica  liked Brannon for his money more so than his personality.

Norman looked at Angelica with disgust as he got into the truck. He and Kayden sat side by side in the back.

"I hate her." Kayden whispered to her brother, trying to lift him out of his mood.

"Yea, I know." Norman rubbed his hands back and forth on his pants again. "You say that every time you see her."

Angelica turned around, beaming at the two siblings. "Hi kids." She smiled with enthusiasm.

Norman rolled his eyes and Kayden caked on a fake smile.

"Hi, Ms. Reeves." The young red-head smiled again, stretching her limits of being nice.

"Oh please," laughed Angelica, "call me Angie." She held Brannon's other hand that he wasn't using to drive. He rubbed the top of her hand with his thumb.

"Kayden, Norman, are you listening?" Brannon asked his younger siblings.

Kayden looked up, but Norman kept his head down not saying a word.

"Just because I picked you up from school does not mean Angelica and I aren't going to dinner. I'll order for the both of you on one condition. Don't steal Angelica's attention." He laughed heartily. "Got it?" He peeked back through the front mirror at the two of them.
