Eryn Foster

Eryn tossed violently in her tangled sheets. A burning sensation had started in her chest earlier that night. Her sheets and pillow were hot. Her hair was plastered to her face with sweat. Eryn was trying to sleep, but the burning began to spread through her whole body.

Her fingers tingled. A huge migraine pulsed in the back of her head. Sweat beaded in her forehead inbetween her bangs. She groaned. Nyre was responsible for this. She made sure Eryn had a rough night whenever she got the chance.

"It's not me." Nyre was sitting on the windowsill looking at the pounding rain. Her eyes were red and she looked like she hadn't slept in years.

"Liar." Eryn spat, putting the pillow over her face. "It's always you. You hate me remember."

Nyre shook her head looking at the floor. "On the contrary. I can't even get in your head."

Interest sparked Eryn. "Excuse me?" She sat up in her bed, sweeping the wet hair from her eyes. "What do you mean?"

"I've been wondering in your house ever since this morning. I tried to get into your head to mess with you earlier today, but when I tried to go back into your head, something kicked me out." Nyre voice glazed with concern.

"What are you talking about?" The heat was making her dizzy.

"When I tried to mess with you earlier today," she repeated, "something wouldn't let me inside your head." Nyre's heel thumped rhythmically against the wall. "There was something already in there." She looked dead into the eyes of Eryn.

More sweat rolled down her head and her irises became small. She saw spots in her vision. "What are you talking about?"

"There's something already in there!" Nyre said, exasperated. Eryn noticed her eyes were small, too.

Eryn freaked out. Blood pulsed through her veins and her heart rate skyrocketed. Her vision blurred and her words all slurred together. "Whatareyoutalkingabout?" She trailed off. Eryn fell back on her bed, her migraine worsening with every second. It hurt worse than anything she had ever experienced. Tears threatened to stream from her eyes without hesitation. She shut them tightly.

"Eryn?" Nyre jumped from the window sill and made her way to the bed. Eryn was sweating so bad Nyre could see it rolling down her face. Her eyes were closed and her breath was shallow. Too shallow.

"Eryn?" She shook her. Nyre ran her hands through her hair. She cursed.

"I'll be okay." Eryn muttered. "I just need to rest for a while." Her voice was weak.

"Can I do anything?" Nyre bit her nails.

"Go to school for me tomorrow." Eryn joked wearily. Nyre nodded.

"Sure. I'll do it." She said. "For now, you need some sleep." Eryn tried to protest, but Nyre reached her hands out and touched her shoulders. Almost instantly, Eryn went to sleep. Nyre floated up the wall and pressed her back to the ceiling.

She looked down at an exact reflection of herself. Only she wasn't a monster. Nyre closed her eyes and the excitement of school buzzed in her head. Finally, she would get to do what she's always wanted.
