Kayden Van Din

Kayden felt no sense of sorrow. She should've, but there was no connection. All this time, she'd been forcing Louis to kill all these people he didn't even know by only thinking about it. All she could do was smile at Louis while he glared back.

"You're insane. You should be put behind bars." He muttered, his voice reflected his mood.

"There's no proof I did anything." Another thought that made her happy. "Your fingerprints are on everything."

Louis heaved a sigh of defeat and wiped a few start tears from his cheeks. "I know that, Kayden. Trust me." He knew the police were on his tail due to the string of murders that had been committed.

"I don't know about you, but I'm really tired." Kayden chirped without a care in the world.

"Are you insane? You're not even worried about the police looking for you and you're not even going to mourn over your brother's death?" Louis knew better than to ask questions, especially to this unruly girl.

She gave him a glare. "Don't forget I can control you. I have power over you with my thoughts. Have a good night." She dismissed him with no hesitation. Louis bit his tongue. She was right.

Kayden had complete control over Louis who was no more than a shadowy creature. "This form is making me soft." He muttered, looking down at his hands. "Just let me go." He looked at Kayden who had curled up on the ground, fast asleep.

This was his chance to be free. While she was sleeping, he could flee. He could run far away and live a normal life as a high schooler with no future plans in education and just work at McDonalds for the rest of his life. "Good plan, Louis, good plan." He scoffed at himself. He was not human and he surely wasn't going to interact with any of them. Louis sighed and slid to the ground. He needed a break from all this, that was for sure.

When he didn't think about it, Louis didn't think he was that bad of a kid. But when he let his mind dwell on his life, he knew that he was just as much a monster as Kayden Van Din herself. He committed murder many times before and even though logically, it wasn't his fault, he knew deep down he could've stopped himself.

He could've spared Marcus Graham and even Garret Williams, but in the end he was under the control of Kayden and he felt that there was no escape from it. Her control was a poison he couldn't stop himself from drinking. She was the mastermind of all the evil that Louis committed. But only he would be blamed for it if they got caught.

All he wanted was to be freed from this craziness that he was in. Louis remembered only one time had he ever been close to freedom and that was many years ago. Laois had tried to kill Kayden herself, but quickly realized that they were connected. If she died, so would he. With that thought in mind, he kept to himself and tried his best to stay on her good side. She was an actress, that he knew. All the time she's been proclaiming her innocence, her thoughts raced with ways to kill all of those who'd fallen.

Louis's head hurt with all the heavy weight of his thoughts and he longed for sleep. He wanted a peaceful, temporary escape from his reality to a place where he wasn't a murderer and a place far away from Kayden Van Din. Unfortunately, she had a different idea in mind.

It was dark and the moon had no chance of breaking through the heavy clouds. Nothing stood out in the dull landscape escape for him. His curly hair and his cheery smile. He was everything Kayden wanted. Logan was tall and happy without a care in the world. At least that's the way he seemed. Sometimes, there would be a deeper, darker side to him that made her want to curl up and cry. There was a much deeper pain inside of him that reeked with guilt.
