Lauren

Lauren awoken at the sound of her alarm clock. She slowly turned on her side, expecting to see Dave, but instead an empty space.

In the space beside her she saw a note. She picked it up to read it.

Last night was great honey. I'm sorry I couldn't stay in bed with you because I had to go to my new job. I promise to be home at 8. And give Lily a kiss for me, I love you both.

- Dave

She smiles to herself as she lays back in the bed in bliss. After a few minutes, she gets up wrapping the sheet against her nude body as she gets ready for her day. She walks into the bathroom and takes a nice warm shower. When she was done showering, she got dressed and walked out to check on Lily. When she got to her room she slowly opened it to peek inside.

Inside she saw Lily snuggled up to her teddy bear as she slept soundly. Lauren thought she looked so adorable in that position. She quitely went inside and sat gently on the bed next to her. She moved a few pieces of stray hair out her face, before gently shaking her awake.

"Its time to get up sweetie." She whispered.

Lily opened her eyes after a few seconds to look up at her tired. She sat up to wipe her eyes.

"Mommy, I'm still tired..." She whined.

"Lily it's 10am, you have to get ready so you can eat breakfast." She said reasoning.

Lily only laid back in bed and closed her eyes. She was not gonna go for this, so instead she said something that would get her attention.

"There will be pancakes." She told her.

And at that moment, Lily hoped out of bed as she ran out the room.

"I want pancakes!" She yelled in her sqeeky cute voice.

Lauren smiled and shook her head slightly, as she got up to go fix breakfast. When she was done cooking, about an hour later she finally sat down with her cup of hot coffee. After all she did deserved it.

"Mommy can I have some more syrup?" Lily asked her with a bit of syrup around her cheeks.

"Only a bit more and that's it. I don't want you getting all sticky." She told her, before reaching on the table for the bottle to pour on her pancakes.

After they both finished breakfast a little later, she cleared the table and sent Lily in the living room to watch cartoons. She still stood in the kitchen as she talked to a lady on the phone about enrolling her daughter into preschool.

"She's four," She said into the phone. "So she'll be able to start on Monday? That's great, thank you so much." She said before finally hanging up the phone.

She let out a huge sigh as she sat back down on the table. So far, everything was coming along great. But she still had her doubt's. She played with her empty coffee cup before getting up and setting it down in the sink. She stood there for a moment as she thought about how things would turn out Monday when she went to go see about that station. She only hopes it goes well. She's been stressing about this every since they moved.

Lauren suddenly had an idea come to mind. She picked up her phone and dialed her mothers number. She waited until she answered on the second ring.

"Oh Lauren! I've been meaning to call you since you guys moved. How's my granddaughter?" Her mother spoked through the phone.

"She's doing fine mom, I just called to ask you for something." She spoke back.

"Oh and what is that?" Her mother asked questionably.

"You remember that recipie of you're homemade meatloaf? I'd like to use that for dinner tonight."

°°°°°

Lauren placed all the things she's purchased from the grocery store in the fridge. Once everything was put away, she went to go check on the meat loaf in the oven. It was starting to get tender inside, just like her mother told her. She waited for about an half hour before taking it out and sitting it on the stove to cool. She gazes down upon the meat loaf and smiled, proud of her work. This certainly took her time off of stressing about her job.

She glanced at her phone for the time which read, 7:56pm. Dave should be home soon. She honestly thought her day would be hell, but it actually turned out pretty great. She started placing the plates on the table as she started setting the table. It's like cooking and cleaning are the only two things to distract her.

She finally set the silverware down on the table, along with cups. She then felt a presence behind her wrap her from behind unexpectedly. She jumped surprised, but knew it was Dave as he kissed her cheek.

"Dinner smells great honey." He whispers.

She smiles and lays her head back onto him. "I made meatloaf. My mom's recipe."

"It sure do smells great. I can't wait to taste it." He says before kissing her cheek once more, then letting her go.

At that moment, Lily came running in. "Daddy!" She said before she jumped into his arms.

"Looks like someone misses me." He says as he kissed her cheek. Lily giggled and hugged him tighter if possible.

She smiled, until she remembered to tell him something. "Oh, I almost forgot. Lily is going to be in school this Monday. I thought it would be okay to enroll her now." She said seeming a bit unsure of herself.

She was waiting for him to argue about her not being ready, but instead he smiled.

"I think she's ready for school too. She already knows her ABC's and 123's." He said with pride.

"I can't wait to to pwe-school!" Lily said, sounding confidant.

She walked over and hugged them both before Dave spoked up.

"Well who's hungry? I know I am." Dave said with eagerness.

She pulled away and slapped his arm playfully. "I'll make the plates."
