Lauren
"Lauren keep anyone out of the scene unless they are investigators!" Shouted one of the officers.
Lauren did as told and began wrapping the whole crime scene area with the yellow tape. She felt sick. She couldn't stand it when she got involved with things like this. She know it is part of her job, but it saddens her at what she sees. She has seen many dead bodies on the spot of her job, but that didn't mean it didn't make her sick.
Even though she always have a blank face with situations like these, she still feels terrified. Not all cops are fearless. Some are not as tough as others think. Becoming a cop takes lot of dedication. It even takes risks. But having this job is a risk and she know Dave worries everyday that something might happen to her. But Dave knows she is a strong woman. She wouldn't let someone take her out that easily.
"Chilly day isn't it?" Spoke a familiar voice.
Lauren looked up and met eyes with James. He had a strange smile on his face. As if he was forcing it.
Lauren turned away as she was finishing tying up the yellow tape around a tree. "Yeah." Was her only reply.
She didn't feel like speaking to him.
James must have taken notice of her odd behavior and took a few steps closer to her. "You seem paranoid. Everything okay?"
"Yeah, I'm...I'm ok. At least I think I am." Her words flowed out so quickly. For some reason she felt as if James was acting strange since that day they had lunch break.
She didn't mean to be so strict, but his actions made her uncomfortable.
"You think you are? Wanna talk about it-"
"No! I dont James...too much is going on at once, and I can't take it." She snapped. She realized what she had done, and began apologizing immediately.
"James I'm sorry, I just been under a lot of stress lately." She turned around to face him with tears brimming at her eyes.
She was about to continue apologizing, but he silenced her. The next thing she felt was him hugging her. He had her in a tight, but gentle embrace. She was shocked at the movement and was gonna push him away, but she just couldn't bring herself to do so. All she could do right now was cry silently in this mans chest.
"Hey, it's ok. Just let it all out. I'm here now.." He whispered to her.
That last line meant a whole different meaning, but she was too upset to realize it.

"Sir can you explain in the best of your ability of how you found the body?" The female detective said.
The older guy looked petrified as he forced himself to speak. "I was coming out to go fishing early in the morning, and as I was fishing I somehow saw an arm in the river. I don't know why but I reached in thinking I was seeing things, and..and-" The old man took off his fishing hat as he started to shake in fear.
From Lauren's perspective, the old man looked as if he was going to cry.
"Tell me...tell me who could have done something so cruel!"
She watched as the woman detective walked the old man away from the scene to calm him down. Lauren would probably freak out too if she was in his shoes.
She wish she could do more. All she could do was take guard and make sure no one but police officers or detectives could enter the scene.
As she took watch she thought of the moment when James hugged her. She don't know why she let him do that. She hardly knows the man. But she noticed something odd about his behavior. He seemed weirdly happy, but why? Does he even care that someone died today?
Her curiosity got the best of her and she had the urge to look at the body. As weird as it may seemed, something just told her to. She looked around her to make sure no one was watching her, before crossing under the yellow tape into the crime scene. The scene was near the river bank. She took one last glance behind her before walking forward towards the white cloth; which she assumed had the dead body underneath it.
When she made it over to the cloth, she stepped over the evidence and work they had set up around the body. When she started to crouch down next to the body, she could already smell the dead flesh already decaying. Taking a deep breath, she lift the white cloth up. It all happened so fast.
She jumped and fell on her butt at the sight before her. The body was cut up into all different types of unrecognized shapes. She placed her hand over her mouth slightly as she tried to get herself under control. At that exact moment she was thinking of who could have done such a thing. Who could murder such an innocent being in the most torturous way possible? She felt disgusted.
She remembers reading about a woman named Angelina Woodward. She was a doctor that went missing for over 4 years straight. And to think that the body that lays before her is that woman. It was a horrific scene. Her body parts were just scattered under the white cloth. She saw a hand, then a feet. She saw other parts she wish not to name.
Lauren was so caught up into the scene, that she didnt realize a presence behind her.
"If I were you, I wouldn't get so close to those body parts. They could have any type of diseases in them." Spoke a brown skinned woman. She had on a black long coat and gloved hands.
Lauren got up on her feet and stepped back immediately. "R-right, sorry ma'am."
"Aren't you a highway patrol officer?" Asked the woman as she examined her uniform.
"Yes ma'am. I'm new to the police force." Lauren replied.
The woman just stared at her, before speaking once more. "Well I'm detective Scottson. And you are?" She held out her hand for Lauren to shake her own.
She galdly shook her hand back to return the gesture as she addressed herself as well. "I'm Lauren Johnson."
"Nice to have you on our side. Where are you from?" Detective Scottson asked pulling her hand back.
"I'm from Pennsylvania ma'am. That's way up North."
"So I heard. I'm guessing you already know who the body is?" Scottson said as she bend down next to the dead remains. She pulled out some special tools to pick up a few pieces of the body to put in a clear bag.
"Not much, but I heard she's been missing for 4 years. It's crazy what happened to her." She mumbles as her voice got lower.
"Yeah...I never gave up on the case though. I would say that this is the hardest case I've ever gotten. No matter what, the evidence I find keeps on changing." Scottson says with a frustrated look.
Lauren noticed this and wondered why.
"What do you mean that the evidence keeps on changing?"
Scottson stopped what she was doing and turned around to face her. "I find evidence, then it disappears. Or the evidence keeps changing and leads me to false evidence."
"Is that even possible?" The things she said was hard to piece in her head.
"I been thinking the same thing. But whoever this killer is knows what it's doing. It's an expert at covering it's crimes."
