Lauren
"I really do think things are turning out great. Like I only walked in and he just hired me out of the blue! Like I should of had to take a test for qualification or something." Lauren goes on as she talks on the phone. She decided to call Carl to inform him about the news.
"Yeah, yeah Carl I'll talk to you later." She hung up as she laid back on the couch.
Dave was in the other room with Lily, which gave her time to be by herself for a few minutes. She told Dave the good news, and he was just as proud as she was. The only problem was that she was feeling really nervous again. And this time she had a reason to be. She's very excited to be able to get a job just like that, but she had a hard time believing it. What if he just said that to get her out of the way? Or what if he didn't really hire her?
"Ugh..." Lauren groan from the headache she received from all the thinking she did.
She needs to stop stressing so much, before she ends up killing herself. With a small sigh, she raised up unwillingly and made her way towards the kitchen. On the way in, she spotted Dave and Lily laughing at the kitchen counter. Lily was the first one to notice her and ran to her instantly.
"Mommy, I had fun at school today!" Lily said hugging her leg.
Lauren smiled and picked her up to hug her properly. "That's good! Did you learn anything new?"
Lily nodded her head fast, as if she couldn't contain her excitement. "Yeah! I learned new numbers, and songs! Want to hear one mommy?"
Before she could reply, Lily already began to sing.
"The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water sprout! Down came the rain and washed the spider out! Out came the sun, and dried up all the rain, so the itsy bitsy spider climbed the water sproutttttt...!" Lily finished with a big grin.
"My, my, my looks like we have ourselves a singer." Dave said as he clapped.
She smiled at her daughter and hugged her even tighter. "That's was beautiful. True talent!"
"I want to go back to school again!" Lily clapped her hands.
"Honey, you can go to school everyday. Except on the weekends." She chuckled a bit.
"Yay!" Lily cheered.
Lauren put her down on the floor, and bend down to her height. "Why don't you go watch cartoons, while me your daddy talk privately okay? I'll bring you some cookies and milk how about that?"
Lily nodded. "Okay!" And ran into the other room.
"She's a handful isn't she?" Dave spoke up as he ate some trail mix from the bowl on the table.
"Yeah, but she's also a cute little ball of happiness." She said heading over to the cabinets to grab some things so make a cup of coffee.
As she prepared her cup of coffee, she began to talk. "So, how was work?"
"Eh, it was good. Wished they had better food." He complained.
"What's wrong with the food there? Isn't there a cafeteria there as well?"
"Yeah, but it's as if I'm eating school lunch hun. It's best if start packing I suppose." He said in between chews.
"I think that would be a good idea, because then I can make yours and Lily's lunch in the morning." She smiled at the thought of it.
"I kind of like the sound of that."
When she was finished making her coffee, she came over and sat across from Dave.
Dave looked up at her. "You seem stress. Is everything alright?"
Lauren just put on a fake smile. "Never been better."
"Don't think I don't know that fake smile of yours." He warned.
"Is it that obvious?" She took a long sip of her coffee. When it came to stress, caffeine was her saviour.
"Absolutely. Now what seems to be the problem miss mom?" He joked a little.
She shrugged her shoulders. "I honestly don't know. I'm happy that I got the job and everything, I just fear that I might become a burden."
"Hun, you need to stop worrying so much and just be confident in what you love. If this is what you really want then go for it. I hate seeing you so down." He reached over the table and placed his hand on top of hers.
"I know, I know, I usually be the one giving advice, but looks who's getting the advice now." She chuckled.
"Hey, Mister dad always knows best." He joked once more.
"Again cut it out with those cheesy nicknames. Do you want me to feel old?" She gave him a look.
"It's not like we're getting any younger." He smiled.
"Mommy! I thought you were going to bring me some cookies and milk!" Came Lily's voice from the other room.
"You heard the girl." Said Dave.
"I'm coming now." She said getting up, while she grab her cup of coffee.
She went over to the sink and poured out her coffee. What a waste. She thinks to herself. As she prepared the cookies and milk for Lily, she secretly prayed that tomorrow would at least be 'okay' rather then 'not-so-okay'.
