Lauren

The peirce noise of the bullet rung throughout the room, as it echoed off the walls. Then another shot out copying the same noise. The female fired bullet, after bullet, as she aimed perfectly at her target. She was so focused as the pattern repeated. She would shoot, and the bullet would aim. It was a pattern that repeated after awhile. After the last bullet shot out, the women soon after removed her protective glasses.

She made sure to put the safety on the gun first, before placing the gun into her belt. She reached up and removed her hair from the pony tail, as her loose brown curls spilled onto her shoulders. She ruffled her hand through her hair as she let out a relaxing sigh. She stopped playing a with her hair and reached over to grab her water bottle. She twist the cap and brought the bottle to her lips and drunk from it.

"How's you're training going Mrs. Red?" A familiar voice said.

She pulled the bottle away and saw Carl coming her way.

"I suggest you stop calling me that." Lauren shot back.

"I like calling you that. Its fits you." He stated as he turned around to look at her shots through the boards. "And nice shots by the way."

Lauren looked at him closely and asked, "Why are you really here Carl? Is something wrong?"

She could tell by the look in his eyes, that he was in a distraught state. She never saw Carl with a frown before. He was always the cheerful type of guy that brought the jokes and laughs. What could be the problem?

"It's nothing just came to check up on ya." He gave a fake smile to look convincing.

Lauren only gave him a look to show she wasn't buying it.

With and aggravated sigh, he spoke.
"It's just...do you have to move? Like why can't you stay here? Is it because of me?"

All of this threw her off as she stood shock at what he was saying. Why would he think she's leaving because of him?

She immediately shook her head. "No. Why would you say something like that?"

"You been with us for a good five years. Why leave all of a sudden?" Carl gave her a serious look as he spoke.

She looked down at the ground. "It's not me. My husband got a promotion offer from his job and his boss said if he wants the promotion he has to transfer. And I can't let him throw such a good opportunity away. I-I..-"

"Its okay. I understand. Just know that I'll miss you." He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder and smiled.

She felt tears well in her eyes as she smiled back at him. "Oh I'm gonna miss you so much!" She pulled him into a tight loving hug.

She heard him chuckle, as he hugged her back. He gave her back a gentle rub as they stood embraced. Of course she was going to miss him. He was her friend, but also her partner. Carl has done so much for her over the few years they have known each other. He always had her back, and she had his. She doesn't want to admit it, but he was like a brother figure to her.

She pulled away and wiped the tears out her eyes. "Well, thanks for that."

"Anytime, but I don't wanna hold you up so you better get going." He gave her a slight push.

"Hey, no need to get pushy. I'm going." Lauren said as she put away her equipment.

She waved bye to Carl and headed towards the locker room. Once she was in the locker room, she went directly to her tannish looking locker. She put in her nesassary combination, and within seconds her locker opened. She reached inside to grab her coat, while she took off her belt gear. When it was off, she placed it in her locker and shut it back. She quickly slipped on her coat and began to make her exit.

Just as she was about to leave, she remembered that her boss wanted to see her before she leaves. She turned back around and headed down the main hall of the station. When she came to a certain door labeled 'Head Officer' she gave a gentle knock. She waited a good ten minutes before the door opened reveling as people call him, "The big man."

"Good to see you Johnson. I'm assuming you're here for you're records?" The old man said as he walked to go sit behind his desk.

Once he was behind his desk he motioned for her to step fully inside, and close the door behind her.

"Ah yes, I am sir. I thought I'd picked them up today instead of tomorrow." She replied as she placed her hands behind her back.

She watched as her boss went inside his desk, looking through his files. It was about a minute or two before he pulled out a light tan folder. He placed it on his desk and slid the folder forward.Lauren reached out and grabbed it and held it carefully, as to not bend it.

"Well...thanks. I guess I should be off." Lauren said a she began to turn around and leave.

"So soon? I been meaning to talk to before you leave. Don't worry, I won't keep you long." Her boss said as she heard him clear his throat.

She slowly turned back around. "And what did you want to talk to me about?"

"Oh, nothing really. Its just I wanted to tell you to be careful wherever you decided to work at next. You know how crazy it can be in some places."

Lauren only gave a light chuckle. "You don't have to worry about me. You already know I be prepared."

He smiled at her faintly. "I know. That's why it's gonna be hard when you're gone."

"Its going to be hard on everyone, but I'll be back to visit. I promise." She said as she was just determined to keep her promise.

She gave him one last reassuring smile, before heading for the exit.

"Oh, and Jhoson."

She stopped when she heard her name. "Yes?"

"Just be careful." The way he spoke this time held a warning behind it.

"I will."

But little did she know, this was only the beginning.
